Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance, SCI eligibility required

This role develops and deploys enterprise and edge computing solutions for mission-critical environments, including emerging capabilities and specialized hardware. Working with engineering teams and operational stakeholders, you’ll lead hardware integration, evaluate technologies such as small-form-factor computers and mobile servers, manage hardware lifecycles, and deliver reliable computing solutions across geographically distributed environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, evaluation, acquisition, integration, and deployment of computing hardware and supporting software for enterprise, edge, and mission-focused environments.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for acquiring, building, configuring, integrating, testing, installing, and sustaining hardware and software solutions at government locations.
• Evaluate and develop innovative computing solutions for emerging operational requirements, including small-form-factor computers, mobile servers, workstations, edge computing platforms, and other technologies suited to physical and deployment constraints.
• Support the design and redesign of IT and hardware architectures, including new system implementations, field changes, technology refreshes, upgrades, hardware replacements, and integration with existing infrastructure.
• Manage engineering schedules, technical tasks, dependencies, hardware acquisition activities, and integration milestones to ensure delivery aligns with customer and operational requirements.
• Maintain equipment inventories, hardware accountability, configuration records, lifecycle status, deployment information, and planning inputs for equipment replacement and modernization.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including hardware designs, system configurations, bills of material, installation and maintenance procedures, technical specifications, and configuration records.
• Provide senior-level technical guidance to engineers, integration teams, program stakeholders, and operational personnel.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, infrastructure, and system integration problems.
• Plan and execute system installations, upgrades, technology refreshes, and new capability implementations while addressing applicable technical, cybersecurity, interoperability, and industry requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates must have the required skills and recent, hands-on professional experience. Your resume must clearly document your personal, hands-on experience in each required area, i.e., the technologies you have used, the work you personally performed, and your individual contributions. Technical detail is welcome; there’s no need to limit your resume to one page.

• Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must hold an active Top Secret security clearance and be eligible for SCI access.
• Must be able to work onsite in San Diego, California, five days per week.
• Must have a current passport and be available for approximately 10% domestic and international travel.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to work standard DoD hours, totaling 40 hours per week.
• Ten (10) years of professional experience in computer engineering, hardware engineering, systems integration, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical discipline supporting complex computing environments.
• Hands-on experience designing, acquiring, building, integrating, testing, installing, and sustaining computer hardware and supporting software solutions.
• Experience supporting Navy, government, or other mission-critical operational environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineers or multidisciplinary technical teams responsible for hardware acquisition, system integration, installation, deployment, or sustainment.
• Proficiency in computing hardware architectures, servers, workstations, storage, networking components, peripherals, and supporting infrastructure.
• Experience translating technical requirements into hardware solutions that account for performance, interoperability, environmental conditions, deployment constraints, and operational needs.
• Experience supporting system design and redesign, hardware upgrades, technology refreshes, field changes, configuration management, and lifecycle planning.
• Ability to manage engineering schedules, technical tasks, dependencies, equipment requirements, and delivery milestones.
• Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation for hardware designs, configurations, installation, maintenance, and sustainment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work through complex technical challenges with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical recommendations, risks, tradeoffs, and project status to technical, program, and operational stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience working with active-duty military customers and fielded capabilities at government or military installations.
• Experience with distributed computing environments, edge infrastructure, or mission-focused technology platforms.
• Experience designing computing solutions around physical and deployment constraints, including small-form-factor computers, mobile servers, ruggedized workstations, edge computing systems, and deployable infrastructure.
• Experience integrating computing hardware with emerging technology platforms, sensors, networks, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or other mission-focused systems.
• Familiarity with enterprise and edge server technologies, embedded computing, GPUs, high-performance computing hardware, virtualization, containerized workloads, or other mission-focused compute architectures.
• Experience conducting hardware trade studies, component evaluations, technical assessments, compatibility analyses, or make-versus-buy recommendations.
