This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or FJO being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.

As a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST at the GS-0201-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Serves as an expert advisor to the Joint Staff which includes a variety of occupations and high level officials, both military and civilian.
- Maintains effective liaison with the personnel staff at the National Capital Region Human Resource Services Center (HRSC), and Servicing proponent.
- Assists top management in the identification, documentation, and implementation of manpower reduction initiatives, such as buyout and early retirement programs.
- Serves as a representative or a member of committees and/or working groups at interagency meetings, conferences and seminars.
- Considers the organizational mission, level of issues, priority, time constraints, and availability of pertinent information in the analytical process of presenting a full range of possible alternatives.
- Provides expert advisory services and assistance to structure new positions and organizational units.
- Provides expert personnel staffing and recruitment services to management with options and recommendations for effective program operations.

- Providing advisory services on a variety of complex HR topics and issues related to the various hiring authorities, classification, and pay administration;
- Writing guidelines, instructions, policies, or SOPs about civilian personnel matters for use agency wide;
- Applying employee relations, performance management, and other civilian personnel management concepts, laws, rules, principles, and practices to research, interpret, and design civilian personnel policies and programs that affect the entire organization.
