LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Duties

• Serves as an expert logistical data and systems analyst and advisor to the Director.
• Performs special projects and studies to include examination and analysis of potential logistical problems and recommendations for testing and improving procedures, programs, and/or systems as they relate to the mission of the organization.
• Serves as advisor to the Director, with regard to achieving increased effectiveness of operations through the optimum effective planning, budgeting, and utilization of personnel and financial resources.
• Assigns work, provides technical advice and guidance, reviews work, evaluates the quality, and provides training to team members.

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes at least 3 out of 4 experiences listed: 1) Provides guidance on taskers, reviewing submissions for accuracy, to ensure they are submitted on time. 2) Review and summarize policy, orders, and guidance for leadership approval. 3) Conduct reviews of manning tables to ensure accuracy. 4) Analyze policy changes to develop internal guidance.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
