Logistics Management Specialist

Duties

• Develops logistics policies and procedures for life-cycle management of equipment and related support programs.
• Conducts logistics policy reviews to assess compliance, identify gaps, and support program improvement.
• Drafts standard operating procedures to govern logistics operations, support requirements, and related management processes.
• Performs logistics studies and projects to evaluate operations and develop recommended courses of action.
• Collects logistics data through field visits, records review, databases, and coordination with supported activities.
• Analyzes logistics problems to identify root causes and recommend solutions to improve effectiveness and readiness.
• Conducts command inspections and evaluations to assess the adequacy of logistics operations, resources, records, and compliance.
• Prepares logistics reports and briefings to present findings, implications, and recommendations to leadership.
• Coordinates policy actions with personnel and subject matter experts to support review, revision, and implementation of logistics guidance.
• Manages publication updates to maintain current logistics guidance, support agreements, and related program documentation.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Must obtain and maintain proficiency level: 1) Foundational qualification requirements; GATES training 2) ATCMD training class qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code.
• This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Analyzing logistics programs to evaluate operations and identify areas for improvement; (2) Interpreting logistics policies and guidance to support program execution and resolve operational issues; (3) Developing logistics procedures and program documentation to support equipment, maintenance, supply, or related logistics functions; and (4) Recommending logistics solutions to improve readiness, accountability, efficiency, or overall support effectiveness.This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
