Job Description

Senior Infrared Signature & Plume Modeling Analyst

Location: Wright-Patterson AFB / NASIC – Dayton, OH 45433
Work Environment: On-site
Employment Type: Full-Time
Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI Required

POSITION OVERVIEW

OSAAVA Services is seeking a Senior Infrared Signature & Plume Modeling Analyst to support Persistent Infrared (PIR) analysis and advanced modeling activities at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB.

This position is designed for a technical professional with hands-on experience analyzing infrared target signatures, observed phenomenology, plume characteristics, and associated physical phenomena using empirical and modeled data.

The ideal candidate has worked directly with Persistent Infrared (PIR) or IR signature data and has experience using plume modeling codes and analytical tools to characterize target behavior and develop technically defensible models, reports, and analysis products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze Persistent Infrared (PIR) target intensity signatures and associated observed phenomena.

• Develop and evaluate plume models using empirical and modeled data.

• Utilize community-standard plume modeling codes and analytical tools to characterize infrared signatures, plume behavior, and target-related phenomena.

• Analyze target intensity and signature data using empirical, measured, and modeled datasets.

• Study target-related infrared signature phenomena using relevant NASIC/GSPM datasets.

• Perform specialized and special-case modeling based on mission and analytical requirements.

• Evaluate modeling results against observed or empirical signature data.

• Investigate and characterize infrared phenomenology associated with targets, propulsion systems, exhaust plumes, or related signatures.

• Develop technical reports documenting analytical methodologies, assumptions, findings, and results.

• Prepare supporting technical data packages, modeling artifacts, and analytical products.

• Develop and maintain relevant model/code input and output files.

• Collaborate with technical SMEs, engineers, scientists, intelligence analysts, and government stakeholders supporting PIR analysis requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

• 3+ years of directly relevant professional experience in Persistent Infrared (PIR), infrared signature analysis, plume modeling, EO/IR, MASINT, infrared phenomenology, signature modeling, or a closely related technical discipline.

• Direct professional experience analyzing Persistent Infrared (PIR), infrared signatures, or closely related IR signature phenomenology.

• Hands-on experience performing plume modeling, IR signature modeling, or closely related physics-based modeling.

• Experience analyzing target intensity or signature data using empirical and/or modeled datasets.

• Experience using plume modeling codes, technical modeling software, analytical tools, or computational methods associated with plume or signature analysis.

• Ability to interpret complex scientific and technical data and translate findings into formal technical reports and data products.

• Ability to work full-time and on-site at Wright-Patterson AFB / NASIC in Dayton, Ohio.

HIGHLY DESIRED EXPERIENCE

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly valuable:

• Previous NASIC experience
• GSPM datasets or related NASIC data environments
• Persistent Infrared (PIR) analysis
• Infrared (IR) signature analysis
• Plume modeling
• Infrared phenomenology
• EO/IR systems and sensor analysis
• MASINT / signature intelligence
• Missile or rocket plume analysis
• Propulsion or exhaust signature analysis
• Target signature characterization
• Physics-based modeling and simulation
• Special-case modeling
• Optical or radiometric analysis

Previous experience supporting NASIC, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Intelligence Community, or other Department of Defense technical intelligence missions is highly desired.

RELEVANT BACKGROUNDS

Your current job title does not need to say "Plume Modeling Analyst."

Professionals performing this type of work may currently hold titles such as:

PIR Analyst • Infrared Signature Analyst • IR Signature Analyst • Plume Modeling Engineer • Signature Modeling Engineer • MASINT Analyst • MASINT Engineer • EO/IR Analyst • EO/IR Engineer • Phenomenology Analyst • Infrared Phenomenology Engineer • Signature Intelligence Analyst • Modeling & Simulation Engineer • Aerospace Engineer • Research Scientist • Research Engineer

What matters most is your actual technical experience.

If you have hands-on experience analyzing infrared signatures and performing plume or related signature modeling, we encourage you to apply even if your current title is different.
