The Special Education Paraprofessional provides one-on-one academic and behavioral support to students with disabilities. This individual works closely with teachers, case managers, and support staff to help implement individualized educational programs and promote student success. Candidates should be comfortable working with students who may display challenging behaviors and assisting with personal care needs when required.

The Special Education Paraprofessional provides one-on-one academic and behavioral support to students with disabilities. This individual works closely with teachers, case managers, and support staff to help implement individualized educational programs and promote student success. Candidates should be comfortable working with students who may display challenging behaviors and assisting with personal care needs when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic and behavioral support to students as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Assist students in developing cognitive, academic, social, communication, fine motor, gross motor, self-help, feeding, and behavior management skills.
- Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans.
- Monitor and manage student behavior in accordance with established classroom and school guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, feeding, diapering, and changing clothing when necessary.
- Assist specialists and teachers with physical development activities.
- Prepare and support students for participation in inclusive or mainstream classroom settings.
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and repositioning students, including the use of braces and adaptive equipment.
- Maintain records related to student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, case managers, specialists, and other school staff.
- Foster positive social interactions and student engagement.
- Attend required trainings, in-services, and professional development sessions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children, students, or individuals requiring care and support.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative educational team.
- Experience in Autistic Support, Special Education, Behavioral Health, or Mental Health settings.
- Experience supporting students with challenging behaviors.
- School-based experience in Learning Support or Autistic Support programs preferred.
- First Aid and CPR Certification (must be obtained prior to start date).
- PA Child Abuse Clearance
- PA Criminal Background Clearance
- PA FBI Fingerprint Clearance
- TB Test Results
- Diploma or Official Transcripts reflecting highest level of education completed
