Personal Care Assistant (Floater) - Pre-K Counts Program

Position Summary
Our client is seeking two dedicated Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to support students in the Pre-K Counts Program for the upcoming school year. This is a floater role that requires flexibility to work at various classroom locations as needed. Candidates must be comfortable supporting children with a wide range of behavioral, developmental, and communication needs.
Job Details
  • Position: Personal Care Assistant (Floater)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Assignment Length: 180-190 school days per year
  • Reporting To: Supervisor of Special Education and Building Principal

Employees will receive their daily work location assignment no later than 7:30 AM each day. Extended coverage assignments may be provided for longer-term staff absences.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and classroom support for students in early childhood education settings.
  • Assist students with academic, behavioral, social, and daily living activities.
  • Implement behavior support strategies as directed by educational staff.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and special education staff.
  • Document and communicate student progress and concerns as required.
Student Population

This position supports students with diverse developmental and behavioral needs. Behaviors may include:
  • Verbal or loud outbursts
  • Non-verbal communication methods
  • Physical behaviors, including using hands or feet to communicate needs
  • Social, emotional, or behavioral challenges requiring additional support
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with children, special education populations, or behavioral support preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Flexibility to work at different school locations as assigned
Required Pre-Employment Documents
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance (within one year)
  • PA Criminal History Clearance (within one year)
  • FBI Clearance (within one year)
  • Proof of Qualifications
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Arrest/Conviction Report & Certification (Act 24)
  • Letter of Assurance confirming completion of Act 168 Employment History Review
  • Proof of Act 126 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test completed within the last 3 months
  • 10-Panel Drug Screen
