Who we're looking for:

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Cyber Automation and Controls Engineer for a potential opportunity with experience implementing, tuning and automating cybersecurity controls in support of enterprise monitoring and defense. The ideal candidate will combine security engineering knowledge with operational awareness to improve efficiency, consistency and visibility across cyber processes and technical protections. The Sr. Cyber Automation and Controls Engineer role works with architects, analysts and Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to ensure controls are operating as intended and producing usable security outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to shape the growth, development and culture of an exciting and fast-growing company in the cybersecurity market. Employment for this position is dependent on the successful award of the contract.

What you'll be doing:

  • Implement and tune technical protections such as logging, access controls, vulnerability workflows and security automation capabilities.
  • Develop or enhance automated workflows to improve continuous monitoring, event tracking, detection support and operational response efficiency.
  • Support implementation of security engineering changes and emerging security capabilities derived from threat hunts, incidents, assessments and gap analyses.
  • Help integrate new security capabilities into existing environments in a sustainable and supportable manner.
  • Support defensive exercises, control testing and validation activities.
  • Work with architects, analysts and ISSOs to ensure controls are operating as intended, producing usable security outcomes and closing identified security gaps.


What you need to know:

  • Experience in security engineering, control implementation and automation in cybersecurity environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise logging, monitoring, access control and technical security operations.
  • Ability to apply strong problem-solving skills to implement, integrate and sustain technical security improvements.
  • Experience working across engineering and operations teams to deliver measurable cybersecurity outcomes.
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills.


Must have's:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; a postgraduate degree from an accredited university may substitute for 6 years of experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex requirements and translate them into clear, actionable tasks and processes through critical thinking.
  • Applicants must currently be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, in compliance with federal contract requirements.


Beneficial to have:

  • Active DOE Q or equivalent DoD Top Secret clearance.
