Position Overview
QinetiQ US is looking for a highly qualified ServiceNow System Administrator/Junior Developer to support a dynamic Research and Development client in Chantilly, VA. Candidates will leverage their past experience and expertise to support a rapidly growing office to ensure that the ServiceNow platform is meeting the demands of the office.
The ServiceNow System Administrator and Junior Developer is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and securing the enterprise ServiceNow platform to support organizational mission requirements. This role acts as a hybrid engineer, balancing routine administrative operations with custom software development and rigorous adherence to cybersecurity frameworks.

The ServiceNow System Administrator and Junior Developer is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and securing the enterprise ServiceNow platform to support organizational mission requirements. This role acts as a hybrid engineer, balancing routine administrative operations with custom software development and rigorous adherence to cybersecurity frameworks.
Responsibilities
System Administration
- Access Management: Perform user and group management, ensuring appropriate role-based access controls (RBAC) and least-privilege principles are enforced.
- Platform Maintenance: Execute routine system patching, platform upgrades, and health checks to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Incident Resolution: Troubleshoot platform issues, respond to user service requests, and resolve incidents in a timely manner, escalate to System Developers or other team members as appropriate.
- Agile Storage Management: Assist with the creation, updating, and addressing of tickets/stories with accurate and timely information.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- ATO Support: Support the Authority to Operate (ATO) lifecycle by ensuring the ServiceNow environment adheres to required security baselines.
- POA&M Remediation: Implement technical controls to address and remediate findings listed in the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M).
- Documentation: Assist with the draft, update, and maintenance of comprehensive system documentation, security artifacts, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support continuous monitoring.
Junior Software Development & Engineering
- Custom UI & Application Development: Assist with design, build, and deploy custom user interfaces, forms, and specialized applications within the ServiceNow platform.
- Workflow Automation: Assist with the development and implementation of automated workflows, flow designer actions, and business rules to streamline operational processes.
- Reporting & Analytics: Assist with creation of custom reports, dashboards, and performance analytics metrics to provide users, stakeholders and leadership with actionable data insights.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- 5 Years of total experience; with 1-3 years of general IT experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on experience specifically with ServiceNow administration and/or development.
- Current ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certificate

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and REST/SOAP APIs is highly desired.
- DoD Compliance Certificates in IAT Level II, CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, or equivalent certification to meet DoD 8140/8570.01-M requirements for privileged system access.
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) certificate. Highly recommended as the candidate progresses in their development duties.
