Job Description
We're hiring Paraprofessionals (PCAs) to support students for our school client in Berwyn, PA
Schedule: 7.5‑hour shift (30‑minute unpaid lunch); typical hours 7:45 AM-3:45 PM
Transportation: Reliable transportation is required
Position Overview
PCAs provide one‑to‑one support to students with special needs across the district. This role supports both academic and behavioral programming as directed by the student's case manager and classroom teacher. Responsibilities include instructional assistance, behavior support, personal‑care tasks, and health/safety monitoring. Candidates must be comfortable working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide individualized instruction as directed by the teacher in areas such as cognitive skills, motor skills, feeding, self‑help, and behavior regulation.
-Support the health and safety of students with physical disabilities by maintaining awareness of environmental risks and student needs.
-Assist students with personal hygiene, including handwashing, toileting, diapering, and clothing changes.
-Implement behavior‑support strategies and monitor student behavior according to established guidelines.
-Assist specialists with physical‑development activities and therapeutic programming.
-Prepare students for participation in general‑education settings following district procedures.
-Attend required trainings and in‑service sessions related to medical procedures, safety, and instructional programs.
-Support students using braces, adaptive equipment, and orthopedic devices; assist with lifting, positioning, and repositioning.
-Maintain accurate records of student progress and support implementation of positive behavior‑intervention plans.
-Collaborate with case managers, general‑education teachers, and other school staff.
-Facilitate positive peer interactions and support students in social‑skills development.
-Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-High School Diploma or equivalent
-Experience working with children, students, or individuals requiring caregiving
-Ability to support students with significant behavioral needs
-Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and positioning
-Reliable transportation
-CPR/First Aid certification (may be obtained prior to start date)
Credentialing Requirements:
-PA Child Abuse Clearance
-PA Criminal Background Check
-PA FBI Fingerprinting
-TB Test Results
