- Lunch: Unpaid 30‑minute break
Position Summary
The Paraprofessional supports students by providing behavioral, academic, and personal‑care assistance as directed by the assigned case manager. This role helps implement effective educational programs and ensures students' safety, well‑being, and access to learning.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide instructional support to individual students as directed by the teacher, including cognitive, gross motor, fine motor, feeding, self‑help, and behavior‑support activities.
- Assist in maintaining a safe learning environment and monitor potential hazards based on students' needs.
- Support students with personal‑care tasks such as handwashing, toileting, diapering, and changing clothing.
- Monitor and reinforce appropriate student behavior following established guidelines.
- Assist specialists with physical‑development activities.
- Prepare students for participation in general‑education (mainstream) settings.
- Attend required training sessions and in‑service programs related to medical procedures and instructional practices.
- Assist students with orthopedic devices, including lifting, positioning, and repositioning as needed.
- Maintain accurate records related to student progress and support services.
- Implement positive behavior‑intervention and support strategies.
- Collaborate with case managers, general‑education teachers, and other staff members.
- Support students in developing appropriate social interactions.
- Work both independently and collaboratively with the school team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Basic First Aid and CPR procedures
- Record‑keeping practices
- Standard English usage, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous relevant experience preferred
Required Clearances & Documentation:
- PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
- PA Criminal Background Check (Act 34)
- PA Department of Education FBI Clearance
- TB Screening
- Arrest/Conviction Report (Act 24)
- Proof of Education (Diploma or Official Transcripts)
- Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (Act 126)
