Position: Computer Systems Engineer/Architect (VMWare ESXI)

Location: Norfolk, 100% on-site

Clearance: Top Secret (with SCI eligibility)


The Computer Systems Engineer/Architect (VMWare ESXI) shall work within a larger Network and Systems operations group to support customer networks and devices. They will be responsible to:


a. Design, deploy, and implement VMware infrastructure components, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and associated management tools.

b. Manage Microsoft Windows domain architecture, including Active Directory deployment, Group Policy configuration, and DNS/DHCP services.

c. Create and administer virtual desktop environments (e.g., Horizon View), virtual machine templates, snapshots, and virtual networking to ensure system stability, scalability, and performance.

d. Configure and provision storage systems (e.g., iSCSI, NFS, VMFS), and perform patch management, data backup, and disaster recovery planning in virtualized environments.

e. Perform capacity planning, system monitoring, and performance tuning to identify and resolve infrastructure issues proactively.

f. Follow formal, change management processes and maintain comprehensive documentation in accordance with organizational standards.

g. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and support the successful delivery of IT infrastructure projects and operational goals.


Qualifications:

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in designing, deploying, and implementing VMware infrastructure components, as well as in-depth knowledge of Windows domain deployment, management, and configuration as it pertains to managing VMware infrastructure and desktop environment components. KSAs include:

· Hands-on expertise in maintaining virtualized environments that support high availability, resource optimization, and secure operations in both development and production settings.

· Strong understanding of integration and interaction with VMware infrastructure.


Education:

Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline OR Level II Certification (Security+ or better) AND a minimum of ten (10) years of experience.

Certifications:

· Active Security + CE or higher

· VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher
