Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified Operational Specialist to provide comprehensive support in systems engineering, integration, and test and evaluation activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the Aegis Weapons System and will play a crucial role in developing, analyzing, and updating programmatic and operational plans to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of various defense projects.
Key Responsibilities
Programmatic Support
• Research, develop, analyze, and assist in the preparation, monitoring, and updating of programmatic, technical, and operational plans, policies, and procedures.
• Analyze and evaluate issues, providing recommendations to resolve substantive problems and enhance operational effectiveness.
• Support the preparation and monitoring of project plans and procedures.
• Evaluate program products and provide recommendations for achieving project goals in briefings and technical papers.
• Conduct technical studies, including the analysis of emergent problems and the evaluation of new technologies.
Systems Engineering and Integration
• Support the development and execution of Systems Engineering Plans, ensuring user requirements are met from identification through design verification.
• Research and develop System/Subsystem specification documents, assessing compliance and consistency with evolving system requirements.
• Facilitate the baselining, revision, and maintenance of requirements documents.
• Plan and present results for modeling and simulation efforts, including system performance assessments.
• Participate in system integration events and support model-based systems engineering processes.
Test and Evaluation (T&E) Support
• Conduct research and support the coordination, planning, and execution of evaluation activities, including assessment and integration testing.
• Develop test and evaluation documentation, including testing plans and usability engineering documents.
• Perform data collection and analysis using tools such as MATLAB.
Required Qualifications
• Fleet operational and maintenance experience in the Aegis Weapons System, including RADAR, WCS, C&D, Doctrine, and weapons employment.
• Time and qualification as AAWC/BMD mission planner and execution experience is necessary.
• Preferred qualifications include Combat Systems Maintenance Manager (CSMM) or Systems Test Officer (STO).
• Additional qualifications as CICWO, RCS, CSM, BMD Planner, or Strike Coordinator are highly desirable.
• Must be comfortable coordinating tasking via secure VOX with Fleet and Battle Group planning staffs.
• Availability for watch rotations 24/7 as operationally required.
• An active TS/SCI DoD clearance is mandatory.
• A Bachelor's or advanced degree is not required; extensive experience in the Aegis Fleet (CG or DDG) and BMD mission is the primary qualification.
