We have and opening for a Mid-Level Cable Technician supporting our program at Hanscom AFB, MA, and I wanted to see if you knew anyone in your network who may be interested. This role supports enterprise IT operations and requires hands-on copper and fiber experience. Position: Mid-Level Cable Technician Clearance: Secret Location: Onsite – Hanscom AFB, MA Schedule: Mon–Fri, core hours Salary: $55–70K Role Overview: • Support daily maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and testing of copper and fiber inside/outside plant systems • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot high-speed copper cabling across the campus • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot multimode/single-mode fiber cabling • Monitor hardware stock levels and maintain proper inventory • Provide materials lists and labor estimates for project planning • Update cable topology and fiber availability drawings in AutoCAD • Document new/updated processes and record incidents in AF ticketing systems • Manage work orders in line with contract metrics while delivering strong customer service • Install communication backboards, racks, and equipment cabinets • Install fiber via direct burial or campus manhole/conduit systems • Work safely in underground or confined spaces • Test, monitor, and calibrate equipment used for cable plant maintenance • Interact professionally with customers and support after-hours needs when required Required Qualifications: • Familiarity with Windows 11 and Microsoft Office • Experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting CAT5e/CAT6 cabling • Experience with multimode/single-mode fiber installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting • Proficiency with cable test equipment and knowledge of TIA/EIA standards • Ability to lift 70+ lbs • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills • High school diploma and three years of related experience
