- Experience as a PCA, paraprofessional, or paraeducator in public or private education
- Familiarity with supporting students who have behavioral and emotional needs
- Strong communication skills, adaptability, and comfort with basic technology
- Ability to follow instructional guidance and implement support strategies aligned with a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic, behavioral, and personal care support to assigned students
- Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans and crisis de-escalation protocols
- Collect and report data on student behavior and academic progress
- Support students with daily living activities (e.g., meals, hygiene, mobility)
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and counselors
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insights from a support staff perspective
- Uphold the school's standards for professionalism, including dress code and appropriate use of technology
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (must own a vehicle)
Required Clearances and Medical Documentation
To be considered, candidates must submit the following prior to start:
- PA Child Abuse Clearance (dated within 2 years)
- FBI Criminal Fingerprint Clearance (within 2 years)
- PA State Police Clearance (within 2 years)
- Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (within 5 years)
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Act 82 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form
- Completed Act 168 Forms
The following may be submitted within 30 days of hire:
- TB Test (within 3 months)
- Physical exam or authorized medical documentation (within 1 year)
