Desirable Traits
- File Systems: XFS, Lustre/GPFS/SephFS, NFS, EXT4 (etc.)
- Performance Testing: IOPS measurement, ability to write/evaluate test plans (e.g., node count vs. write capability)
- Hardware Configurations: RAID (0-10), Grid RAID, sharding, etc.
- Storage Networks: SAN, Ethernet, Infiniband, Slingshot (etc.)
- Storage Technologies: SSDs (Flash/NAND), RAID levels, interfaces (M.2, SATA, PCIe NVMe, etc.)
- Monitoring: Storage network, bus, and device monitoring skills
- Linux Skills: Fundamental commands and OS structure (directory listing, locations, command history, etc.)
- Programming: Python preferred (others acceptable)
- Architecture Knowledge: General computing system and CPU architecture (cache, cores, memory/storage controllers)
Experience Requirements
- Education/Experience Pathways:
- HS diploma + 19 yrs systems engineering
- Bachelor's in engineering/related field + 15 yrs
- Master's in engineering/related field + 13 yrs
- PhD in engineering/related field + 13 yrs
- Must have significant experience managing storage solutions (procurement, configuration, optimization)
Desirable Traits
- Familiarity with smart data
- Strong communication skills with government customers, technical staff, and executives
- Ability to cover ISO/IEC 15288 process areas across technical, project, enterprise, and agreement domains
