Personal Care Assistant (PCA) - Early Intervention Program

Main Regions/Areas of Assignment:
  • Marple Region: Broomall, Havertown, Wynnewood
  • Aston Region: Media, Aston (Majority of position at Aston Education Center), Glen Mills
  • Montgomery County Region: Bryn Mawr, Broomall

Job Type: Full-Time Hours: Typically 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Start times may vary from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM) Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch (30-minute PAID lunch during travel time only)

About the Program:

Our Client's program is dedicated to supporting children with special needs from age three until they enter kindergarten. We believe in identifying and addressing developmental delays, disabilities, and special needs early in life to help every child thrive by building on their strengths.

Job Summary:

We are seeking dedicated Personal Care Assistants (Paraprofessionals) to join our Early Intervention team. In this vital role, you will support the instructional program within assigned classrooms, assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in either regular or self-contained settings. PCAs play a crucial role in implementing instructional plans, monitoring student behavior, providing essential information to school personnel, and attending IEP meetings. This position requires hands-on support, including assisting with feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions of students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Support: Assist in implementing instructional plans and reinforcing academic tasks under the guidance of the classroom teacher or instructor. Provide one-on-one or small group instruction and help modify materials as needed.
  • Behavioral Support: Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans, supporting students in developing appropriate social skills and behaviors, and assisting in de-escalating situations and providing crisis support following established protocols.
  • Personal Care: Provide physical support for students during meals, bathroom routines, positioning, and other activities of daily living, ensuring their full participation. Monitor health conditions of students with disabilities.
  • IEP Implementation & Documentation: Actively participate in IEP meetings and MUST USE IEP WRITER WITH STUDENTS to document progress. Collect data on student performance and behavior as required by the student's IEP, charting progress and reporting findings to appropriate staff.
  • Collaboration: Participate in meetings and collaborate effectively with teachers, instructors, therapists, counselors, and other special education professionals to support student needs and progress.
  • Environment Management: Help maintain an organized, clean, and conducive learning environment.
  • Professionalism & Adherence: Adhere to board Policies, Administrative Directives, dress code, and cell phone/earbud standards. Demonstrate professionalism, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude and adhering to ethical standards.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and all applicable laws.
  • Logging & Training: Sign in and out on daily logs. Complete 20 hours of required annual training.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
  • Current Clearances & Certifications (Required):
    • PA Child Abuse Clearance (within 12 months)
    • FBI Criminal Background Check, Fingerprints (within 12 months)
    • PA Criminal History Check (within 12 months)
    • TB Test (within 3 months)
    • Mandated Reporter Training Certification (within 5 years)
    • CPR/First Aid Certification (within 2 years, \"hands-on\" component required)
    • Completed Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form (Act 82 Form)
    • Completed Act 168 (Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release)

Important Notes:
  • These positions are assigned to provide instructional, behavioral, and personal care support as outlined in the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or for general classroom support in early childhood education.
  • Positions are directed by the teacher, instructors, or related service personnel and are under the general supervision of the teacher, instructor, and program administration.
  • Sub/supplementary assignments may be added to schedules to assist with staffing cases. If a referral replaces a sub/supplementary assignment, the assigned contractor may be reassigned to cover the new referral.
