Job Title: Student Support Specialist (Behavioral & Academic Support)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to work one-on-one with students, providing both behavioral and academic support. This role involves assisting in the implementation of individualized educational programs as directed by the student's case manager. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors and will be comfortable supporting students with special needs, including assistance with feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors and will be comfortable supporting students with special needs, including assistance with feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction in areas such as cognitive development, motor skills, self-help, feeding, and behavior management, under the direction of a teacher.
- Support the health and safety of students with physical disabilities by maintaining awareness of environmental hazards and student-specific needs.
- Assist students with personal hygiene tasks, including handwashing, toileting, diapering, and changing clothes.
- Monitor and manage student behavior in alignment with established behavioral guidelines.
- Collaborate with specialists to support physical development activities.
- Help prepare students for integration into mainstream classrooms.
- Participate in required training sessions and in-services related to medical care and instructional strategies.
- Assist with the use and adjustment of orthopedic equipment, including lifting and repositioning students as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and support the implementation of positive behavior intervention strategies.
- Work collaboratively with case managers, general education teachers, and other staff members.
- Facilitate positive social interactions among students and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children, students, or in caregiving roles.
- Preferred: Background in Autism Support, Special Education, Behavioral Health, or Mental Health.
- Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification prior to start date.
Credentialing Requirements (must be completed within 12 months):
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check
- FBI Fingerprint Clearance
- Tuberculosis (TB) Test Results
- Proof of highest level of education (Diploma or Transcripts)
