Location: Fort Meade, MD (Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity and experience in protecting critical systems and networks within highly sensitive environments.

As an ISSE, you will play a key role in ensuring the security of information systems and will be responsible for supporting the overall security posture of systems used within the NSA environment. Your expertise will be essential in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure compliance with national and industry security standards.
Key Responsibilities

• System Security Design:
  Develop and implement security architectures for information systems, ensuring that they meet all government and industry standards.
• Vulnerability Assessment:
  Conduct security assessments, including risk analysis, to identify potential vulnerabilities within the system architecture and recommend solutions.
• Security Controls Implementation:
  Develop, apply, and monitor security controls to protect data, networks, and systems. Ensure systems meet DoD and NSA security requirements.
• Risk Management:
  Assist in the creation of security policies and strategies to mitigate risks to classified systems and information.
• Compliance and Auditing:
  Ensure compliance with security regulations, including NIST, FISMA, and DoD security standards. Support audit activities and address findings.
• Incident Response:
  Assist in the investigation and resolution of security incidents. Coordinate with internal and external teams to mitigate threats and ensure continued security.
• Collaboration:
  Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system engineers, developers, and project managers, to integrate security measures into the system lifecycle.
• Documentation:
  Maintain accurate documentation of security configurations, security architecture, and procedures for audits and compliance reviews.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Clearance:
  Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (NSA)
• Experience:
  At least 10+ years of experience in Information Systems Security Engineering
• Technical Skills:
  
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols, encryption techniques, and system hardening procedures
  • Proficient in network security, vulnerability management, and incident response
  • Experience with security monitoring, penetration testing, and security risk assessments
• Security Frameworks:
  Familiarity with DoD 8500.1, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and other relevant security frameworks
• Communication Skills:
  Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Desired Qualifications

• Certifications:
  CISSP, CISM, CEH, or other industry-recognized security certifications
• Cloud Security:
  Experience with securing cloud-based systems and environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Security Engineering Tools:
  Familiarity with system engineering tools and scripting languages to automate security processes

Location and Schedule

• Onsite Requirement:
  3 days per week at Fort Meade, MD
• Remote Work:
  2 days per week allowed for remote work flexibility
