Job Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction as directed by teacher to individuals in a variety of areas including cognitive, gross and fine motor skills, feeding skills, self help skills and behavior control.
- Assist teacher in maintaining health and safety of physically handicapped students by being aware of environment and the potential hazards of each child's actions
- Assist students with personal hygiene, including washing hands and faces, toileting, and changing diapers and clothing as needed.
- Monitor and control student behavior in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assist other specialists with physical development activities.
- Prepare students for mainstreamed classes according to established procedures.
- Attend periodic and special training and in-services related to medical interventions and instructional program as required.
- Assist students with braces and other orthopedic equipment to lift, position, and reposition students as needed.
- Assist teacher in maintaining a variety of records related to student progress
- Implement positive behavior intervention support policies.
- Collaborate with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff as needed.
- Assist students in social interactions.- Work cooperatively with others and independently as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must have Associates degree or 48 college credits
- First Aid Certificate including CPR
- PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance( within 1 year)
- PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance(within 1 year)
- PA Department of Education FBI (within 1 year)
- TB Screening - current within 3 months
- Arrest/Conviction Form(within 1 year)
- Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts
- Reporter Training Certificate(Act 126)(5 years)
- Own, reliable form of transportation (car)
