Equipment Specialist SME

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as a Senior Equipment Specialist within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This role demands advanced expertise in the lifecycle support, sustainment, and operational readiness of complex defense systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of DoD acquisition processes, logistics, and maintenance strategies, coupled with a proven track record of leadership in high-security settings. The NCL Division is responsible for sustaining globally deployed nuclear command, control, and communications (NC3) capabilities, including strategic MILSATCOM terminals, aircrew alerting, and messaging systems. The Equipment Specialist will provide in-depth technical support across the lifecycle of aircraft systems, subsystems, and support equipment, and lead configuration and maintenance management of legacy and transitioning systems.

Responsibilities Include:

• Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance on the acquisition, maintenance, and sustainment of DoD systems and equipment, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and operational requirements.
• Lifecycle Support: Oversee the full lifecycle of equipment, from initial acquisition through sustainment and eventual disposal, ensuring compliance with DoD policies and standards.
• Logistics and Sustainment: Develop and implement strategies for equipment sustainment, including provisioning, maintenance planning, and parts management, to ensure operational readiness.
• Configuration Management: Lead efforts in configuration management, ensuring that all equipment modifications are documented and compliant with DoD directives.
• Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all activities are documented in accordance with DoD regulations, including the preparation of Technical Orders, Maintenance Instructions, and other relevant documentation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with program offices, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to address complex technical issues and provide solutions that enhance system performance and reliability.

• Will perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications:

• Certifications: DoD Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level I or higher certification in Life Cycle Logistics.
• Specialized Experience: Experience with specific DoD systems or platforms relevant to the position.
• Additional Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to support decision-making processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a US citizen
• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance required: Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in equipment sustainment and logistics within a DoD environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership or SME role.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, or a related field; advanced certifications or degrees are a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, maintenance strategies, and logistics systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and deliver presentations to senior leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Familiarity with DoD logistics and maintenance systems such as ETIMS, IMDS, and REMIS is highly desirable.

The annual salary range: $142k-$158k. Salary is dependent upon the role and associated responsibilities, candidate's experience, and qualifications to include education/training, and key skills.
