Overview
BigBear.ai is seeking a Database Engineer 2 to support mission-critical needs for our government customer. This role will be performed onsite at the assigned customer location. As a Database Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of database systems while collaborating with developers and stakeholders to deliver value-driven solutions.
What you will do
- Monitor databases and related systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Support agile activities, including release planning, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to incorporate lessons learned into engineering processes.
- Model data to design local schemas, tables, data types, indexes, procedures, and functions.
- Collaborate with developers throughout the application development lifecycle to build features that deliver value to customers.
What you need to have
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of database engineering experience.
- Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph (required).
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with MongoDB or MariaDB, including:
- Deployment and management of the database.
- Debugging and resolving optimization issues.
- Scaling database systems to meet performance demands.
- Experience with MongoDB or MariaDB, including:
What we'd like you to have
- Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as Django or Flask.
- Experience with ReST endpoint development and micro-service architecture.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as:
- Swagger for API documentation.
- AWS, C2S, or other cloud platforms.
- Docker for containerization.
- Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs.
- JSON and/or XML serialization.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools, including Jira and Confluence.
- Proficiency with Git version control.
