You'll join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering complex control system solutions for large scale defense platforms. The role balances hands on troubleshooting with systems design leadership and DevOps practices in a classified environment. U.S. citizenship and an active (or easily reinstate able) Secret clearance are required.

Responsibilities
- Own the full life cycle of shipboard machinery control systems-from requirements and architecture through integration, test, and field support.
- Lead small squads (2- 4 engineers) and mentor junior teammates while remaining hands-on with code, hardware, and network diagnostics.
- Develop and maintain software baselines, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code repositories using Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Analyze electrical schematics, PLC logic, and C/C++ or Python source to isolate faults and implement fixes within rigorous configuration management processes.
- Perform root cause analysis on hardware, firmware, and network issues (TCP/IP, serial, CANbus) and document results for internal and customer stakeholders.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent practical experience.
- 7-10 years of professional experience spanning systems engineering, embedded software, or DevOps.
- 3 years of troubleshooting integrated hardware/software products in mission-critical environments.
- 1 year reading electrical schematics and source code, plus 1 year diagnosing IP-based networks.
- Active Secret security clearance (or higher).
Preferred qualifications
- 2 years serving as a technical or project lead.
- 1-5 years of experience with naval or industrial machinery control systems for heavy platforms (ships, power plants, or comparable).
- Familiarity with STIG/DoD cybersecurity compliance, containerized build environments, and automated test frameworks.
- Demonstrated use of Atlassian toolchain (Jira Software, Confluence) and Git based repos (Bitbucket, GitLab).
