Now Hiring: Weather Forecaster I – USAFA, Colorado Springs, CO Akima Systems Engineering (ASE), an Akima company, is seeking a skilled Weather Forecaster I to support operations at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, CO. If you have DoD or National Weather Service forecasting experience and thrive in fast-paced, mission-critical environments, this is your opportunity to make a real impact. What You’ll Do: • Deliver accurate, mission-critical weather forecasts for flight, parachute, and training operations • Support one of the busiest airfields in the Air Force, including NCAA events and academy activities • Analyze meteorological data and provide actionable insights to leadership • Issue weather advisories, warnings, and forecasts with precision and timeliness • Conduct briefings and collaborate with military teams to ensure operational safety Basic Qualifications: • U.S. Citizen (eligible for Public Trust clearance) • 5+ years experience in DoD Weather Stations or National Weather Service • Graduate of Air Force Weather Forecasting School (or equivalent) • Ability to work flexible shifts (days/nights/weekends/holidays) Preferred Skills: • Degree in Meteorology or related field • Mountain weather forecasting experience • Knowledge of mesoscale meteorology & high-resolution models • Strong communication and independent decision-making skills Work Schedule: Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional 12-hour shifts Pay & Benefits: • $33.73/hour + $6.00/hr Health & Welfare (per CBA) • Shift differential based on schedule If interested, contact me for details.
