Job Description
Technical Training & Instructional Design Specialist
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Training & Instructional Design Specialist to manage the full training lifecycle for a Model Based Enterprise (MBE) portfolio.
This role is responsible for training intake, curriculum and content development, delivery, maintenance, effectiveness measurement, internal communications, learning management system administration, and intranet content management.
You will support a range of technical audiences, including engineers, CAM programmers, quality technicians, manufacturing personnel, and PLM administrators. Training solutions should be tailored to the workflows and needs of each audience rather than delivered through a single, generalized curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Gather training requests, identify target audiences and scope, estimate development effort, and coordinate delivery with capability go-live dates.
Partner with technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture complex knowledge and translate it into clear, practical training materials.
Develop job aids, quick-reference guides, work instructions, eLearning modules, video scripts, and other learning content.
Administer Cornerstone OnDemand at the content level, including course structure, enrollment, completion tracking, reporting, and troubleshooting.
Maintain existing MBE training materials and technical documentation on internal intranet platforms.
Develop technical communications related to capability launches, deployment lessons learned, and training opportunities.
Track training effectiveness using completion data and learner feedback, and continuously improve content based on findings.
Design audience-specific learning experiences for engineering, manufacturing, quality, and PLM users.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, technical training, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience developing training for engineering, manufacturing, or other highly technical audiences.
Experience designing curricula for multiple audiences with different roles, workflows, and learning needs.
Hands-on, content-level administration experience with Cornerstone OnDemand.
Proven ability to extract technical knowledge from busy, time-constrained SMEs and translate it into effective learning content.
Experience developing technical communications for engineering or manufacturing audiences.
Working knowledge of Model Based Enterprise (MBE), Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) data management, and manufacturing or inspection data flows.
Must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing training for Teamcenter, NX CAD, or comparable CAD and PLM platforms.
Experience with eLearning authoring and screen-recording tools.
Familiarity with Prosci ADKAR or another structured change-management methodology.
Previous experience in aerospace, defense, shipbuilding, regulated manufacturing, or a similar technical environment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate combines strong instructional design skills with enough technical fluency to work effectively alongside engineering and manufacturing teams. You should be comfortable interviewing SMEs, learning complex tools and workflows, and turning that information into concise, role-specific training that employees can apply on the job.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means delivering accurate, accessible, and up-to-date training that helps technical teams adopt new MBE capabilities effectively. You will establish repeatable training processes, maintain reliable learning records, and use learner feedback and completion data to continually improve the training experience.
