Job Description

SelectTech Services is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Cable Fabrication Technician to perform advanced cable and wire harness fabrication, assembly, installation, inspection, and testing in support of aviation, aerospace, and defense-related programs. This position requires extensive hands-on experience with fiber optic cable assemblies, electrical wiring, cable harnesses, and associated interconnect systems.

The Senior Cable Fabrication Technician interprets engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to fabricate high-quality cable assemblies that meet stringent engineering, quality, and industry requirements. This individual serves as a technical resource to the fabrication team, providing guidance and mentorship to other technicians while helping ensure production efficiency, workmanship quality, and compliance with applicable aviation and defense standards.

What You’ll Do
• Perform advanced fabrication, assembly, routing, termination, and installation of electrical cables, wire harnesses, and fiber optic cable assemblies for aviation and defense applications.
• Fabricate and assemble complex cable harnesses and interconnect systems in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and technical specifications.
• Perform fiber optic cable preparation, stripping, cleaving, termination, splicing, polishing, and inspection.
• Install and terminate various electrical connectors, contacts, terminals, backshells, and cable accessories.
• Perform wire preparation, cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, lacing, shielding, and protective sleeving.
• Read, interpret, and work independently from engineering drawings, cable assembly diagrams, pinout documentation, and bills of materials.
• Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and electrical testing to verify cable assembly functionality and workmanship.
• Perform fiber optic testing and inspection using appropriate equipment, including optical power meters, light sources, and OTDR equipment, as applicable.
• Identify fabrication discrepancies, defects, and nonconformances; troubleshoot and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all fabricated assemblies meet applicable quality standards, customer specifications, and aviation/defense industry requirements.
• Maintain accurate fabrication records, inspection documentation, test results, and production travelers.
• Support the development and improvement of fabrication processes, work instructions, and production procedures.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior and intermediate-level cable fabrication technicians.
• Assist with complex fabrication projects, prototype builds, engineering modifications, and production troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established EHS and manufacturing procedures.
• Additional duties as needed.

What You’ll Bring
• High school diploma or GED required; technical school, vocational training, or an associate degree in electronics, electrical systems, aerospace technology, or a related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in cable fabrication, wire harness assembly, electrical interconnects, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience fabricating, terminating, and testing fiber optic cable assemblies.
• Experience supporting aviation, aerospace, military, or defense-related programs.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Working knowledge of electrical wiring, connectors, crimping, soldering, cable routing, shielding, and termination techniques.
• Experience using cable fabrication tools, precision measurement equipment, and electrical/fiber optic testing instruments.
• Strong understanding of quality control, inspection procedures, and workmanship requirements.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex fabrication issues, and meet production schedules.
• Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards
• Familiarity with MIL-SPEC cable assemblies, connectors, and associated fabrication requirements.
• Familiarity with TO 1-1A-1 / NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1
• Experience with fiber optic industry standards and procedures, including applicable IPC/FOC or military specifications.
• Familiarity with aerospace and military quality management systems, including AS9100.
• Experience with aerospace electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS).
• Experience working with prototype development, engineering changes, and custom cable assemblies.
• Previous experience providing technical leadership, training, or mentorship to other technicians.
• Familiarity with applicable FAA, military, and customer-specific quality requirements.
• Must be able to qualify for and maintain at least a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
