Salary: $80,000 – $135,000 per year
About Us
Indigo Industries is a growing government contractor delivering mission-focused solutions to federal clients. We’re looking for an experienced accounting professional to strengthen our finance operations, keep us audit-ready, and help build the policies that support our continued growth.
About the Role
As our Entry Level Business Analyst/Development, you’ll be the go-to expert for Unanet and DCAA compliance. Reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer, you’ll support the team with day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, and expense reporting while taking the lead on documenting and improving our accounting policies and procedures. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting the details right and building systems that make everyone’s work easier.
What You’ll Do
-Serve as the subject-matter expert for Unanet, including configuration, project setup, timekeeping, billing, and reporting
-Partner with the COO on financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and operational decisions, providing clear analysis and recommendations
-Ensure accounting practices, timekeeping, and cost accounting meet DCAA requirements and FAR cost principles
-Support and guide the team on bookkeeping tasks, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close
-Classify and track direct costs, ODCs, and indirect costs (fringe, overhead, G&A) accurately in Unanet
-Assist with indirect rate calculations, incurred cost submissions, and DCAA audit preparation
-Oversee expense reporting, reviewing submissions for accuracy, allowability, and policy compliance
-Write, update, and maintain accounting policies and procedures (timekeeping, expense, indirect cost, and billing)
-Train staff on Unanet, timekeeping, and expense policies
-Identify process improvements and help strengthen internal controls
What We’re Looking For
-5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including at least 3 years in government contracting
-Advanced, hands-on expertise with Unanet (GovCon ERP)
-Strong working knowledge of DCAA compliance, FAR Part 31, and adequate accounting system requirements
-Thorough understanding of government contract cost structures (direct labor, ODCs, fringe, overhead, G&A) and how they flow into indirect rates and billing
-Experience building and maintaining indirect cost pools and allocation bases, and calculating provisional and actual rates
-Experience preparing for or supporting DCAA audits
-Proven ability to write clear, practical accounting policies and procedures
-Familiarity with CPFF, T&M, and FFP contract types and how costs are billed under each
-Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA or similar certification a plus
Why Work for Indigo?
-Paid time off: All federal holidays plus three weeks of paid vacation (accrual basis)
-Health insurance: Employer-paid individual premium for eligible employees after a 30-day waiting period; dental and vision options available, with full plan details provided at hire
-Retirement: SIMPLE IRA with up to 3% employer match after a 30-day waiting period
