Job Description
Company Overview
Orbis is a technology company that delivers sovereign intelligence and decision capabilities to the United States Government and its allies. We convert complex information and operational systems into decisive outcomes, giving public institutions and critical enterprises the tools to move faster, see clearer, and act first in an increasingly contested world.
We are not a consulting firm and not a systems integrator. Every Orbis team is built around practitioners who have operated at the mission edge, and every engagement is judged on one thing: whether it produces working capability, not slide decks. Solutions forged from experience; that is how we build, and it is how we hire.
Job Summary
This role drives international growth by advancing the Obsidian Autonomy joint venture, supporting European business development and leading strategic pursuits across regions. It partners with the EVP, International, to execute portfolio priorities, develop new opportunities and partnerships, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and implement scalable processes that improve business development and operational effectiveness. The role also builds a comprehensive understanding of Orbis' business model, commercial practices, and delivery capabilities to accelerate growth and execution across the company.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Focus & Flexible Support
Your initial focus will be (1) the growth of the Obsidian Autonomy joint venture and (2) direct support to the Orbis BD Lead, Europe, on pursuits, proposals, partner engagement, and pipeline development. (3) also serve as a flexible senior resource for the EVP, International. As new opportunities emerge in any region, the EVP may direct you to stand up, support, or lead a pursuit. The EVP, International will work with you to balance your workload and support your ability to shift between priorities as the portfolio demands.

Orbis Benefits
Beyond the opportunity to work alongside practitioners who have operated at the mission edge, joining Orbis means real ownership over outcomes that matter; the chance to build technology that gives the United States Government and its allies a genuine decision advantage, not just another dashboard. From competitive retirement matching to a PTO policy that encourages real time off, we're committed to creating an environment where our team can do their best work and still have a life outside of it.
Our comprehensive benefits package is designed to meet the diverse needs of our employees and their families. A full list of benefits is shared with candidates following an initial conversation with our HR team, so you'll have a clear picture of the support and resources available to you as part of the Orbis team.
Orbis Locations
Orbis works in whatever arrangement the mission requires. Depending on the role, that might mean five days a week on a customer site, full-time in one of our offices, a hybrid schedule, or fully remote work; our team is spread across 25 states and four countries to match. We make sure every team member has the tools and access needed to do the work, wherever that work happens.
Travel is common across many Orbis roles, particularly those supporting customer missions in the field.
Orbis is headquartered in McLean, VA, with additional office locations in Taipei, Taiwan, and Canberra, Australia.
Orbis is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. We are committed to providing a work environment free of discrimination and harassment, and we make employment decisions based on merit,
qualifications, and business need. Orbis does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable law.
Orbis complies with all applicable equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws in every jurisdiction in which we operate. Reasonable accommodation is available to applicants and employees with disabilities upon request.

- DRIVE: Bring momentum to the international portfolio. Work for the EVP, International across the whole of the portfolio, carry his priorities into the regions, and lead initiatives where the opportunity calls for it. Move opportunities forward across different regions, close gaps between the regions and headquarters, and extend that energy to the broader company, including the Defense vertical, where it helps.
- GROW: Support the growth of the Obsidian Autonomy joint venture and take ownership of new pursuits, programs, and partnerships as they emerge, standing them up and running them through to a permanent owner where appropriate.
- LEARN: Develop a working command of the Orbis business end to end, from how we price and contract to how we deliver and support, across products, services, financials, and contracting practices.
- BUILD: Identify where process, standards, and shared playbooks would improve speed, quality, and consistency across International and the wider company, and lead the effort to put them in place.
- CONNECT: Partner with Finance, Legal, People, Operations & Delivery (OPD), and Product Development & Engineering (PDE) to make cross-functional execution smoother, and support firm-wide strategy implementation and business development.
Specific Duties
DRIVE: Drive Momentum Across Regions
- Work with the EVP, International across different regions, aligned on priorities in support of country managers and regional leads; provide initial support to the BD Lead, Europe; engage with partners and customers on pursuits, proposals, negotiations, and engagement.
- Lead initiatives independently. Carry opportunities that lack a natural owner or that span regions, own them end to end, make the calls needed to keep them moving, and maintain flexibility to support areas that may need additional senior capacity.
- Represent Orbis with international government and industry counterparts, including in-country.
- Support Defense and other company priorities where international experience, relationships, or capacity add value.
- Produce an aggregate international update when appropriate that highlights pipeline movement, program accomplishments, client feedback, and opportunities for growth or expansion.
GROW
- Support the growth of Obsidian Autonomy, the Orbis UAE joint venture, including pipeline development, proposals, pricing, and partner engagement.
- Help manage the Orbis side of the JV relationship, including commercial and IP matters, in coordination with Legal and the executive team.
- Align Obsidian's offerings with the Orbis product roadmap and delivery capacity.
- Take on new pursuits, programs, and partnerships as they arise and lead select captures end to end, including teaming, solution shaping, pricing strategy, and negotiation.
- Contribute to program proposals and concept pitches. Participate in the pricing and review process before proposals are sent to clients to ensure consistency with firm quality standards and alignment with strategy.
- Build relationships with clients and potential clients where appropriate. Seek to limit single points of connectivity for the firm and invest in sustained and upcoming relationships.
LEARN
- Within the first 120 days, learn the business development cycle through engagement with Orbis International colleagues to understand best BD practices; hone skills and build confidence to sell Orbis products and services to international clients.
- Develop fluency in Orbis products and services, the delivery model, program financials, and contracting and export practices.
- Spend time with country managers, program leads, and functional teams to understand how work actually gets done and where it slows down.
- Provide feedback to OPD and PDE to make our Product and Service offerings better, more capable of solving customer problems, and more marketable.
BUILD
- Identify where process, standards, and shared playbooks would improve speed, quality, or consistency across International and the wider company, and lead the effort to put them in place.
- Establish repeatable approaches for how international pursuits are run, from qualification through capture, pricing, and handoff to delivery.
- Raise the bar of execution by setting and modeling standards for proposals, customer engagement, and internal reporting.
- Within the first year, deliver recognizable improvements in how international pursuits are run, with repeatable processes adopted across regions.
CONNECT
- Partner with Finance, Legal, People, Delivery, and Product to make cross-functional execution smoother and to strengthen the connection between International and the rest of the company.
- Understand trends and changes with the potential to disrupt the firm's key international opportunities and proactively share insights and recommendations with the EVP, International and the executive team.
- Support internal concept and capability development with your experience, client insights, and abilities.
- Support the establishment of a one-firm culture linking the international regions and the JV with the firm as a whole.
Required Qualifications
- Senior experience in national security, defense technology, or international government business, with a record of building and closing complex deals, sustained in-country engagement with government and industry partners, and leading teams through growth.
- Strong commercial judgment across pricing, contracting, partnerships, and export considerations
- Experience building structure in a fast-moving environment without slowing it down; comfort operating across regions, cultures, and time zones; and the ability to earn trust quickly with country managers, executives, customers, and partners.
- Clearance Required: TS/SCI
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Participation in virtual and in-person meetings
- Ability to attend planned meetings and/or work in classified spaces within the specified work regions
- Ability to travel internationally as required by the business
