Job Description
Join an employee-owned, innovation-driven organization shaping next-generation technology for U.S. Defense, Aerospace, Human Factors, and Security missions. At DCS, our multidisciplinary teams tackle complex challenges with agility, creativity, and exceptional technical talent. We are seeking a forward-thinking Computer Engineer with strong Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) expertise to advance mission-critical capabilities for the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC).
As part of our Air and Space Technology Sector, you will leverage MBSE, computer science, and IT expertise to design, develop, and maintain advanced software and hardware architectures supporting national defense operations. Working alongside experienced engineers and subject matter experts, you will prototype next-generation solutions, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive performance across critical intelligence platforms.
Essential Job Functions
• Research emerging technologies to identify optimization and performance upgrade opportunities for current hardware and software platforms.
• Architect, develop, and prototype new technical capabilities that directly improve mission effectiveness.
• Generate technical documentation, including comprehensive capability specifications, system architecture designs, and end-user guides.
• Provide technical guidance, task prioritization, and architectural direction to software development and engineering teams.
• Apply independent technical judgment to resolve complex systems engineering and integration challenges.
• Verify that all software components comply with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity directives and baseline standards.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and assist in ongoing Authority to Operate (ATO) compliance and accreditation workflows.
• Work autonomously and cross-functionally within an integrated, multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Support ad-hoc engineering and technical initiatives necessary to maintain overall mission success.
Required Skills
• U.S. Citizenship (mandatory due to customer security requirements).
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related STEM field, accompanied by at least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in developing, interpreting, and applying SysML 1.x models.
• Hands-on operational experience with enterprise MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Magic System of Systems Architect, IBM Rhapsody, or equivalent).
• Proven aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
Desired Skills
• Direct operational or development experience supporting NASIC or National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) software and hardware architectures.
• Practical experience with SysML 2.0 modeling (both textual and graphical notations) and familiarity with the SysML v2 API & Services.
• Track record of translating legacy SysML v1.x models into SysML v2.0 structures.
• Relevant Object Management Group (OMG) certifications, including SysML v2 Model User or OCSMP credentials (MU, MBF, MBI, or MBA).
• Familiarity with defense simulation and intelligence tools such as AFSIM, TMAP, EWIRDB, or ITASE, including experience integrating these platforms with SysML frameworks.
• Professional experience delivering within Scrum or related Agile project methodologies.
• Broad familiarity with DoD and Intelligence Community software tools, frameworks, and workflows.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Demonstrated capability to partner effectively with intelligence analysts and technical subject matter experts to align system requirements with mission goals.
• Experience leading engineering projects, mentoring junior personnel, and serving as a direct technical liaison to client stakeholders.
