Key responsibilities

Pipeline and release automation:
- Build and maintain release pipelines that deliver critical software to production fast, without sacrificing
safety.
- Automate deployments across development, test, staging, QA, and production using scripting and
automation toolkits.
- Stand up continuous integration environments using configuration management, containers, serverless
technologies, and Kubernetes.
- Set best practices for build tools (Gradle, Maven, Ant, shell), CI tools (Jenkins, Bamboo), and infrastructure automation (AWS, VMware, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).

Platform and infrastructure:
- Support the full life cycle of platform architecture design, deployment, and debugging.
- Bring new sites and applications online through configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible.
- Design, implement, and maintain web service infrastructure and deployments.
- Automate network infrastructure configuration with software-defined networking.
- Assess the service stack, recommend improvements, and find processes that can be streamlined or
automated.
- Apply high-availability architecture, performance tuning, and monitoring to meet SLA requirements.

Version control and tooling:
- Establish and maintain Git-based configuration management, including branching and merging
strategies.
- Maintain, upgrade, and patch Confluence and Jira.
- Write automation in languages such as Python, Ruby, Perl, and Java.

Team leadership and collaboration:
- Serve as technical lead for an Agile team and take an active part in planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
- Bridge stakeholder and development requirements through clear communication.
- Work across multiple teams, and step in to support deployment and operations when needed.
- Protect the confidentiality of all information processed, stored, or accessed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a seasoned DevOps or SRE practitioner who reads code as well as they automate
infrastructure, and who leads by example on an Agile team.

Required:

computer science, plus 10+ years of related experience (education does not count toward the total).
- 10+ years in an Agile development environment.
- 10+ years of system architecture experience, including reading code and following its logic to support
troubleshooting.
- 10+ years managing and monitoring AWS cloud and virtualized servers in a Platform as a Service (PaaS)
environment.
- Fluency with Git, and strong Linux skills across RHEL 6/7/8 and CentOS (RHCSA/RHCE-level knowledge).
- Windows system administration, including monitoring, instrumentation, resiliency, and performance.
- Object-oriented programming in at least one language such as Ruby, C, C++, Go, Python, or Java.
- Proficiency with DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering methods, and familiarity with SDLC models and Agile practices.
- Caching technologies (Memcache, ActiveMQ, Redis, APC, etc.), MySQL clustering, replication, and tuning,
and Elasticsearch.
- Knowledge of security practices, networking protocols, firewalls, and PCI compliance.
