Space and Missile Defense Technical Specialist (TS/SCI)
Clearance: Active TS/SCI
Travel: Up to 25%
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA (on-site)
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $150,000 – $190,000
Position Overview:
Indigo is looking for a Space and Missile Defense Technical Specialist to provide technical analysis, mission integration, and program support for a high-visibility Department of War capability portfolio. You will evaluate how space-based sensors and data integrate with the missile-warning, missile-tracking, battle management, command and control, fire-control, and weapon-system capabilities that defend the U.S. homeland. The focus is how space-derived data is processed, correlated, distributed, and turned into fire-control-quality information that supports engagement decisions. You will assess existing architectures, interfaces, mission threads, operational processes, and sensor-to-shooter dependencies to inform the integration of new and expanded space-based capabilities. You will work onsite as part of the government team in a dynamic joint environment.
What You’ll Do
-Support the technical and mission integration of space-based sensors and data with the broader missile defense engagement architecture.
-Analyze end-to-end missile defense mission threads, from detection and tracking through track correlation, engagement planning, fire-control processing, weapon assignment, and engagement assessment.
-Assess how space-derived missile-warning and missile-tracking data is received, processed, correlated, distributed, and used by battle management, C2, fire-control, and weapon-system capabilities, including C2BMC and other elements of the integrated engagement architecture.
-Evaluate sensor-to-shooter interfaces, data exchanges, communications pathways, and operational processes, and document requirements, dependencies, limitations, risks, and integration opportunities.
-Assess the accuracy, timeliness, continuity, availability, and interoperability of space-derived data, and its suitability for maintaining track custody and producing fire-control-quality or engagement-quality track data.
-Analyze how new or expanded space-based capabilities and integration approaches align with mission needs, existing architectures, acquisition strategies, operational requirements, and planned fielding.
-Assess the effects of new capabilities on existing C2 architectures, fire-control processes, weapon-system interfaces, acquisition programs, and operational organizations.
-Develop mission threads, integration concepts, interface descriptions, architecture products, technical assessments, executive briefings, issue papers, and decision-support materials for government review.
-Support technical reviews, working groups, planning sessions, demonstrations, exercises, and test events, and document findings, decisions, actions, risks, and open issues.
-Facilitate technical coordination among military services, defense agencies, acquisition organizations, program offices, operational commands, laboratories, industry partners, and other mission stakeholders.
-Identify and recommend improvements to technical integration, interoperability, data sharing, sensor-to-shooter performance, and decision support.
Required Qualifications
-Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
-U.S. citizenship.
-Bachelor’s degree. A degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Research, Business, Management, or a related field is preferred. Significant directly relevant military, civilian, or contractor experience may be considered in place of a degree.
-10+ years of experience in missile defense, space-based sensing, battle management, command and control, fire control, mission integration, systems engineering, defense acquisition, or a related field.
-Broad knowledge of the space and missile defense domains and how they relate to homeland defense and joint operations.
-Experience with missile defense battle management, C2, or fire-control capabilities, such as C2BMC or comparable systems.
-Demonstrated understanding of how space-based missile-warning and missile-tracking data is received, processed, correlated, distributed, and used by C2, fire-control, and weapon-system capabilities.
-Experience analyzing missile defense mission threads, sensor-to-shooter integration, technical architectures, interfaces, data exchanges, or operational processes.
-Experience identifying and assessing technical requirements, dependencies, limitations, risks, and integration issues.
-Ability to develop technical assessments, integration products, executive briefings, issue papers, and decision-support materials.
-Experience coordinating across military services, defense agencies, acquisition organizations, program offices, operational commands, technical organizations, or industry partners.
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience supporting the U.S. Space Force, SDA, MDA, USNORTHCOM, or related organizations.
-Experience supporting technical reviews, demonstrations, exercises, modeling and simulation, or test events involving integrated sensors, C2, fire-control, and weapon-system capabilities.
-Advanced degree, DAWIA certification or credential, INCOSE certification, or comparable technical or acquisition training.
