Five Rivers Analytics is seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Work will primarily involve aluminum materials and assemblies, requiring knowledge of aluminum welding techniques, material preparation methods, and proper heat control procedures associated with aluminum fabrication and repair activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding, fabrication, repair, and modification of aluminum and other metal components using TIG and MIG welding processes.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, fabrication drawings, work orders, and engineering specifications.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, oxide layer removal, joint preparation, fit-up, and material preparation activities associated with aluminum welding.
- Select and adjust welding equipment settings, shielding gas flow, filler metals, and machine parameters appropriate for material type and thickness.
- Perform welding operations utilizing proper heat control and distortion mitigation techniques associated with aluminum materials, accounting for heat sensitivity and thermal conductivity.
- Utilize AC welding settings for TIG aluminum welding when required.
- Apply pulse welding techniques, when necessary, to support weld quality and heat control requirements.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with applicable engineering specifications and welding requirements, minimizing defects and rework.
- Perform repair or rework of defective welds as required.
- Diagnose and repair aluminum components.
- Fabricate, assemble, repair, and modify metal components and assemblies.
- Maintain welding equipment, including setup, routine maintenance, calibration of TIG and MIG welding machines, and operational readiness checks.
- Use welding tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, welding safety procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while operating welding equipment and tools.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members to understand project requirements.
- Independently perform welding assignments with minimal supervision and produce welds meeting established fabrication and engineering requirements.
- Enter time spent on digital timekeeping systems
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated professional experience in a welding and metal fabrication support position.
- Demonstrated experience in TIG and MIG welding, with a strong emphasis on aluminum materials.
- Experience preparing materials and components for welding and fabricating, assembling, repairing, and modifying metal components and structures.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with welding equipment settings specific to aluminum, such as adjusting for different thicknesses and ensuring appropriate gas flow rates.
- Experience performing inspection and rework of welds.
- Proficiency in TIG welding techniques, which are crucial for precise and clean welds on aluminum.
- Proficiency in MIG welding, which can be more efficient for thicker aluminum materials.
- Ability to work with aluminum-specific challenges, such as oxide layer removal, heat sensitivity, and thermal conductivity.
- Competence in using AC (alternating current) settings for TIG welding aluminum.
- Experience with pulse welding techniques, often used to control heat input and improve weld quality.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity, particularly important for the precision required in TIG welding.
- Knowledge of the maintenance and calibration of TIG and MIG welding machines.
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing aluminum components.
- Attention to detail to ensure high-quality welds, minimizing defects and rework.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and understanding project requirements.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Understanding of and compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety guidelines.
- Ability to use various welding tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Personnel classified under this labor category shall not be substituted with lower-skilled welding labor categories, including welding helpers, welding assistants, or personnel qualified to perform only a single welding process.
- Moderate lifting and carrying (50 lbs.), straight pushing and pulling, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers and both hands required, walking and standing, repeated bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling (use of both legs and arms), operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle, both eyes required with depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors, hearing (aid permitted).
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED with completion of formal technical training courses.
- Due to safety and operational requirements mandated by our government customer, candidates are required to successfully complete a physical fitness evaluation.
- NACI Clearance - Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must possess TWO forms of unexpired identification to meet eligibility requirements.
- One Primary form of government-issued identification, selected from the following:
- Valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued ID card.
- U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Transportation ID Card.
- U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card.

- Preferred Education and Certifications
- One Primary form of government-issued identification, selected from the following:
- Completion of a vocational or technical program focused on welding, with specific courses in TIG and MIG welding, is highly advantageous.
- AWS (American Welding Society) certification specific to aluminum welding is highly recommended. Relevant certifications include:
- AWS D1.2 Structural Welding Code for Aluminum.
- Specialized certifications for TIG and MIG processes.
- Additional certifications for specific applications or industries may be beneficial.
