Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in Monitors the operational reliability of IP-based satellite networks and data processing equipment; and Identifies operational deficiencies in telecommunications systems to initiate corrective repair actions; and Integrates voice, radio, or video transmission hardware to support diverse user requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the competencies, as defined:

Duties
Help
- Configures secure and non-secure IP-based Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite networks to ensure reliable voice, data, and video transmissions.
- Analyzes satellite spectrum data using a spectrum analyzer to resolve connectivity and interference issues.
- Monitors day-to-day network performance across Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) to maintain established mission requirements.
- Coordinates router and switching services utilizing standard network protocols to synchronize communications infrastructure.
- Schedules preventive and corrective maintenance on telecommunications equipment to maximize the operational readiness rate of critical circuits.
- Diagnoses complex operational equipment failures to recommend immediate restoration actions
- Liaises with external IT service providers and contractors to coordinate engineering and equipment installation projects.
- Drafts inter-agency memorandums of understanding to formalize operational procedures, maintenance support, and circuit restoration priorities.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
- Position is subject to random drug testing. Incumbent must pass a drug test.
- May require TDY travel up to 30 days CONUS and OCONUS up to 10% of the time.
- May require uncommon tour of duty hours, working either fixed or rotating shift which may include evening, weekends, and holidays.
- This position is designated as mission essential, consistent with the criteria described in DoD instruction (DoDI) 3024.42.
- Employee must reside within the local area (50 miles) and able to report to work within an hour notice
- This position requires a pre-employment physical, must be able to lift 40 pounds.
- In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/or Software Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level:
- 1) Foundational qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (which can overlap).
- This is an Information Assurance Workforce position. Incumbent must meet position requirements for certification at Level I in Information Assurance Technical (IAT I) within six (6) months or less of entrance on duty.
- (Certification requirements may be found in DOD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program)
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
