IT Specialist (Entry Level) - A/V & End User Support
Location: Hanscom Air Force Base, Lexington, MA
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $32-$38/hr during contract period
Conversion Salary: $80,000 annually + benefits
We are seeking an Entry-Level IT Specialist to support end users, conference room technology, and audio/visual systems within a professional government environment at Hanscom Air Force Base.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with help desk, desktop support, A/V support, military communications, or technical school experience looking to grow into a long-term IT career.
Responsibilities
-Provide Tier I support for desktops, laptops, conference rooms, and collaboration technology
-Troubleshoot hardware, software, printer, peripheral, and connectivity issues
-Support Microsoft Teams Rooms and video conferencing environments
-Configure and troubleshoot displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, and collaboration devices
-Resolve conference room outages and break/fix issues
-Assist with installation and deployment of IT and A/V equipment
-Perform cable management and support structured cabling activities
-Track inventory and document work within a ticketing system
-Conduct preventive maintenance and operational system checks
-Deliver excellent customer service while supporting end users
Required Qualifications
-High school diploma or GED
-1-2 years of IT support, desktop support, help desk, technical support, or A/V support experience
-Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and computer hardware
-Understanding of networking fundamentals and IP connectivity
-Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills
-Ability to pass background screening and drug testing
-Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
-Ability to climb ladders and access ceiling-mounted equipment when needed
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience supporting conference rooms or video conferencing systems
-Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms
-Experience with Logitech Rally Bar, Crestron, Poly, Cisco, or similar collaboration technologies
-Structured cabling experience including Cat6/Cat6A
-Experience working with ticketing systems
-CompTIA A+, Network+, or related certifications
-Military, internship, trade school, or vocational technology experience
Work Environment
-Primarily office and conference room environments
-Hands-on support of collaboration technology and end-user systems
-Some after-hours support may be required
-Opportunity to convert to a permanent employee after six months
