Basic Requirements:
Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. My work or the data that I produce is typically reviewed by my supervisor or another colleague.
Customer Service - experience having brief contact with customers to provide information about available information technology products and services and providing customers with standard products or routine services to address information technology needs
Oral Communication - experience informing my supervisor and other IT staff of the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of basic technical information to a non-technical audience
Problem Solving - identifying or selecting from a number of alternatives to address routine information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from standard sources that provide a limited number of solutions.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-11/12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: To qualify at the GG-11 level, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience which demonstrates: (1) Network Administration & Operations Support: Experience performing daily operations and touch-labor support for local area networks (LANs), including configuring client/server software, troubleshooting physical links, and executing standard tasks such as port configurations, port security lockouts, and maintaining DHCP reservations. (2) Network Security & COMSEC: Experience assisting with network security measures, including installing and maintaining standard communications security (COMSEC) equipment and encryptor configurations to protect data communications. (3) Project Coordination & Requirements Gathering: Experience collaborating on IT project deliverables, gathering functional requirements, and responding to technical support inquiries from staff or vendors to restore services and maintain network availability.
To qualify at the GG-12 level, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience which demonstrates: (1) Advanced Network Engineering & Diagnostics: Experience designing, configuring, and maintaining complex local area network (LAN) environments, virtual switching networks, IP routing, VPNs, and VoIP systems; and analyzing network traffic, diagnostics, and performance to direct network software upgrades and fixes. (2) Information Systems Security & Compliance: Experience evaluating IT systems and networks for compliance with security policies, developing security certification and accreditation documentation, and coordinating with Information Assurance Managers (IAM) to protect, restore, and secure systems across diverse platforms. (3) IT Program & Project Management: Experience providing project oversight, managing multiple integrated IT projects, coordinating dependent schedules and deliverables, and monitoring server/network administration to ensure continuous service availability. (4) Requirements Analysis & Acquisition Support: Experience translating complex business and functional requirements into technical design specifications; and assisting with IT acquisitions by drafting requirements, market research, and Statements of Work (SOWs).

- IS Security Certification: Evaluating IS security features against requirements. Includes developing certification and accreditation plans/procedures, documenting deficiencies, reporting corrective actions, and recommending security improvements.
- Network and System Admin: Monitors network systems/servers to ensure service availability. Troubleshoots hardware, software, phone, and security system malfunctions to resolve operational issues and rapidly restore services.
- Perform touch-labor support (e.g., port configuration, port security lockouts, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) reservations, encryptor setups) and troubleshoot physical links/outages.
- Configure, set up, and maintain communications security (COMSEC) equipment and encryptor configurations to ensure secure data communications across classified and unclassified networks.
- IT Program Management: Coordinated management and oversight of multiple IT projects. Integrates dependent schedules, deliverables, and related activities to ensure alignment and program-wide success.
- Requirements Management: Identifies, analyzes, specifies, and manages functional/infrastructure requirements. Translates functional needs into technical designs and presents alternative technologies or approaches.

- This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
