About the Job
Venatôre is seeking an experienced F5 Administrator to support USCENTCOM on the CITS contract. The F5 Administrator will configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP systems to ensure the availability, security, reliability, and performance of critical applications and services. This hands-on technical role works closely with network, systems, security, and other IT teams to integrate F5 solutions across the broader infrastructure environment and maintain robust application delivery services in support of mission operations.

About the Job
Venatôre is seeking an experienced F5 Administrator to support USCENTCOM on the CITS contract. The F5 Administrator will configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP systems to ensure the availability, security, reliability, and performance of critical applications and services. This hands-on technical role works closely with network, systems, security, and other IT teams to integrate F5 solutions across the broader infrastructure environment and maintain robust application delivery services in support of mission operations.
Responsibilities
F5 System Configuration & Maintenance
- Configure, deploy, and maintain F5 BIG-IP systems, including load balancers, Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs), and SSL offloading configurations.
- Design and implement traffic management solutions, including Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) and Local Server Load Balancing (LSLB).
- Manage SSL/TLS offloading configurations, including keys and certificates, to support secure communications.
- Configure and maintain F5 iRules to manage application traffic and provide enhanced functionality for specific use cases.
- Assist with F5 system upgrades, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure continued system functionality.
- Support the design and implementation of new F5 solutions that improve application delivery, scalability, security, and availability.
Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex F5 performance, connectivity, security, and availability issues while minimizing service disruptions.
- Monitor F5 systems for health and performance and provide proactive recommendations for optimization.
- Support incident response and root cause analysis for F5-related issues affecting critical applications or services.
- Participate in capacity planning for F5 devices and supporting infrastructure to meet evolving demand and service requirements.
- Continuously evaluate and recommend enhancements to application performance, security, and availability.
Operational & Agile Management
- Execute daily F5 operational activities while meeting application delivery requirements, compliance standards, and deployment deadlines.
- Use Azure DevOps (ADO) boards to track operational tasks, backlog items, and customer requests related to F5 configurations and deployments.
- Participate in Scrumban planning and review sessions to help prioritize F5 operational efforts based on mission urgency, USCENTCOM directives, and service level agreements (SLAs).
Security & Compliance
- Ensure F5 deployments and maintenance activities comply with applicable security policies, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Apply knowledge of DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and related security mechanisms within F5 load-balancing environments.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Develop and maintain documentation for F5 configurations, change management activities, troubleshooting procedures, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with network, systems, and security teams to integrate F5 solutions across the broader infrastructure environment.
- Provide technical support and guidance to IT teams and end users regarding F5 traffic management solutions.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues and escalate technical problems when necessary.
- Work across multiple technical teams to design and implement end-to-end application delivery solutions.
Operational Readiness & Continuous Improvement
- Support continuous coverage of critical operations by maintaining an accurate on-call roster for personnel assigned to after-hours or emergency support.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve F5 operational efficiency and application delivery through automation and custom scripting, including iControl REST and tmsh.
- Evaluate modernized F5 technologies and approaches that can improve system performance, security, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP systems, including load balancers, ADCs, and SSL offloading.
- Deep proficiency configuring and managing F5 systems for high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, and SSL/TLS.
- Experience developing and maintaining F5 iRules and traffic management policies for application delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex F5 performance, connectivity, availability, and security issues.
- Experience managing operational workloads and Agile tasking using Azure DevOps (ADO) boards, Scrumban, or related Agile methodologies in demanding DoD operational environments.
- Strong technical documentation skills, including experience developing configuration guides, troubleshooting procedures, and change management records.
- Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 certification, such as CompTIA Security+.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Willingness and ability to support USCENTCOM exercises and operational requirements, including up to 10% travel to OCONUS locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA) certification.
- F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5-CTS) certification.
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
- Familiarity with F5 system performance monitoring and reporting tools, including F5 Analytics.
- Experience integrating F5 technologies within hybrid-cloud or multi-cloud environments.
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools for F5 management, including Ansible and Terraform.
- Prior experience supporting USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission and operations.
