Job Description

The Opportunity

NTS is seeking an experienced Wing BFT Analyst to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Blue Force Tracking (BFT) program. The AFSOC BFT program is part of the USSOCOM BFT Program of Record and is a highly technical, mission-critical capability that integrates AFSOC aircraft and ground forces into national BFT and Friendly Force Tracking (FFT) architectures, National Technical Means (NTM) collection systems, dissemination networks and Common Operational Picture (COP) systems.

In this role you will be the technical and operational backbone behind the government-appointed Wing BFT Representatives at AFSOC's Special Operations Wings and Special Tactics Squadrons. You will keep BFT devices fielded, accounted for, tested and ready; troubleshoot problems for aircrews and operators at home station and down range; train the people who train the users; and keep each Wing's BFT program compliant with AFSOC Instruction 13-601. If you know the SOCOM BFT device family, understand how tracks move from a device to a COP, and can explain it clearly to a maintainer, an aircrew member or a Wing Commander, we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities
  • From the AFSOC OC at Hurlburt Field, provide remote BFT support to Wing-appointed BFT Representatives (military or GS) so each Wing can meet its technical, operational and inventory-control responsibilities under AFSOCI 13-601 and Theater Special Operations Command (TSOC) guidance.
  • Maintain monthly coordination with Wing BFT Representatives, push program updates, and keep BFT practices standardized across AFSOC.
  • Deliver reach-back troubleshooting support by phone, email and text to supported Wings (1, 24, 27, 492, 352, 353, 137, 193 and 58 SOW), Special Tactics Squadrons and deployed AFSOC forces during duty hours or altered schedules during contingencies; escalate unresolved device anomalies to the AFSOC BFT Program Manager within two hours.
  • Field, sustain, functionally test and disposition BFT devices; keep inventory in a ready-to-deploy status; and preserve tracking capability on platforms and personnel during device swap-outs.
  • Perform configuration management and accountability actions in IMS (or follow-on), MMC and DPAS, including updates within two hours of any device assignment change, annual inventories, and immediate watch-listing of lost or stolen devices.
  • Coordinate with deploying units and TSOCs to capture tracking requirements before deployment and confirm the correct type and quantity of BFT capability is fielded.
  • Administer aircraft departure checklists with Wing BFT Representatives and AFSOC Mission Information Managers (MIMs).
  • Train Wing/Group BFT Managers and provide approved training material so Wing Representatives can train their BFT users; support annual train-the-trainer events at each Wing.
  • Advise Wing BFT Representatives on Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) self-assessment compliance and support BFT Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) as directed.
  • Capture and document BFT capability requirements and recommend After Action Reports / Lessons Learned from Wing users for submission to the AFSOC BFT PM.
  • Safeguard BFT devices and sensitive BFT information under the applicable Security Classification Guides and COBRA Operational Security Messages.
  • Contribute to contract deliverables including trip reports, quarterly status inputs and quarterly inventory and accountability reports.
