Job Description
We are seeking a Junior Travel Specialist to provide administrative and operational support for a Government Travel Program. This position will review and modify Government travel documents submitted through the Defense Travel System (DTS), communicate with Government travelers, and provide research and help desk support to assist with the accurate and timely processing of travel-related requirements.
The Junior Travel Specialist will help ensure travel documents comply with applicable Government requirements and the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to research and resolve travel-related questions and administrative issues.

The Junior Travel Specialist will help ensure travel documents comply with applicable Government requirements and the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to research and resolve travel-related questions and administrative issues.
Responsibilities
- Review Government travel documents submitted through the Defense Travel System (DTS) for administrative accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and correct administrative errors in travel documents prior to Government approval.
- Review travel documentation for compliance with applicable Government travel policies and the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
- Communicate orally and in writing with Government travelers regarding travel documents, administrative requirements, corrections, and other travel-related matters.
- Respond to traveler questions and provide assistance in resolving travel-related issues.
- Perform investigative research to identify and resolve travel program questions, discrepancies, and administrative issues.
- Provide help desk support to Government travelers and other program stakeholders.
- Research travel-related information and provide accurate guidance based on applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Identify travel debts resulting from Certifying Official approval and assist with appropriate follow-up actions.
- Forward applicable travel debts for collection action when amounts are not paid directly by the traveler within the established due date.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to travel transactions, corrections, inquiries, and collection actions.
- Assist with other administrative and operational activities supporting the Government Travel Program as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree (AA/AS) in a relevant field is desired.
- A High School diploma or equivalent and an additional four (4) years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the AA/AS degree.
- Two (2) years of relevant professional experience is desired.
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to identify and correct administrative errors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with Government travelers and other stakeholders.
- Strong research, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply established policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a customer-focused environment.
- Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting a government travel program or Federal Government customers.
- Experience working with the Defense Travel System (DTS).
- Familiarity with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
- Experience reviewing travel documents, vouchers, authorizations, or related Government travel documentation.
- Experience providing help desk or customer support services.
- Experience researching and resolving administrative or financial discrepancies.
- Experience supporting travel debt collection or other Government financial processes.
