Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support mission-critical cybersecurity operations within a highly secure government environment. This individual will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for advancing defensive cyber operations, engineering secure enterprise solutions, and helping shape long-term cybersecurity strategy.
The successful candidate will bring a combination of hands-on cybersecurity expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise cybersecurity capabilities, drive process improvements, evaluate emerging technologies, and support the protection of critical national security systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership supporting defensive cyber operations and enterprise security initiatives.
- Design, implement, operate, and sustain cybersecurity capabilities that strengthen organizational security posture.
- Develop and execute cybersecurity strategies, roadmaps, and modernization initiatives.
- Monitor cybersecurity operations and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and mission execution.
- Advise senior leadership on cybersecurity priorities, resource allocation, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, processes, and security capabilities to improve operational effectiveness.
- Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and design studies to assess cybersecurity solutions and architectures.
- Produce technical white papers, assessment reports, and strategic recommendations.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams, engineers, program leaders, and mission stakeholders.
- Support personnel development through mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership.
- Contribute to identifying and resolving capability, staffing, and process gaps.
- Participate in cybersecurity planning, incident response, risk management, and security engineering activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline (additional relevant experience may be substituted for formal education).
- Minimum 8+ years of cybersecurity experience.
- Minimum 10+ years of leadership experience serving in roles such as team lead, functional manager, or operational lead.
- Strong understanding of: Enterprise cybersecurity architectures, Network security principles, Operating systems security, Security monitoring technologies, Intrusion detection and prevention systems, SIEM platforms, Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO).
- Experience briefing executive leadership and senior decision-makers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyze enterprise network and web architectures.
Required Certifications:
- Candidates must possess certifications that satisfy: DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level III and DoD 8140 / 8570 CSSP Manager
- Examples may include: CISSP, CASP+, CISM, GSLC, and other qualifying certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), or other classified government environments.
- Experience with cloud migration, cloud security, and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Knowledge of vendor-agnostic cloud security principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with: Security Operations Capability Maturity Models (SOC-CMM, C2M2, or equivalent), Cybersecurity compliance frameworks, assessments, and metrics, Defensive cyber operations and cybersecurity governance, Cyber threat intelligence processes and reporting, MITRE ATT&CK framework, Purple Team methodologies, Adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and DoD acquisition and budgeting processes
- Understanding of cybersecurity authorizations, accreditation processes, and mission assurance requirements.
