Duties
Employee at this level is an expert within their functional area; heads of branches or divisions; or key program administrators. Conducts or directs activities or assists higher levels on challenging and innovative program development with only general guidance on policy, resources, and planning; develop solutions to highly complex problems requiring various disciplines; responsible for fulfilling program objectives. Results are authoritative and impact programs or the well-being of substantial numbers of people. Position involves 51% or more of time in direct support of managing component positions.
Duty 1: Command & Team Leadership: Supervisory Duties: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities, greater than 25% of the time. Leads and directs the S4 directorate, setting strategic priorities and developing a high-performing team of civilian and military professionals to achieve all mission objectives. Exercises the full spectrum of supervisory responsibilities, including talent acquisition, performance management, and professional development, to build and sustain the command's expert workforce. Drives a culture of excellence and continuous improvement by developing performance standards and mentoring personnel on all work, technical, and administrative matters.
Duty 2: Strategic Policy & lnteragency Partnership: Directs logistics policy and long-range program objectives to guarantee the sustainment of all U.S. Space Force missions within the USEUCOM and USAFRICOM Areas of Responsibility. Builds and maintains critical partnerships with logistics leaders across the USSF, DoD, and other national agencies to align efforts and ensure mission accomplishment. Shapes the command's future by establishing and revising policies, organizational staffing, and Program Objective Memorandum (POM) recommendations to overcome barriers and enhance operational effectiveness.
Duty 3: Logistics & Sustainment Enterprise Leadership: Leads the command's logistics and sustainment enterprise, ensuring all USSF missions are supported in accordance with strategic guidance, policies, and procedures. Drives operational efficiency by evaluating logistics effectiveness, identifying and implementing improvements from both organic and private sector sources.
Serves as the command's final authority on logistics, validating all resource requirements and providing decisive counsel on sustainment and procurement plans.
Duty 4: Operational Readiness & Senior Advisory: Continuously assesses the operational readiness of all support equipment and systems, providing data-driven analysis and actionable recommendations directly to senior leadership. Functions as the senior functional advisor to Program Managers and Integrated Product Teams on all supply chain and support equipment matters. Ensures the accuracy and impact of all official communications by reviewing, editing, and coordinating all correspondence and documentation for assigned projects.
Duty 5: Logistics Information Systems & Modernization: Serves as the command's focal point for all logistical information systems, overseeing the planning and execution of the IT framework supporting the SPACEFOREUR-AF logistics community.
Steers the modernization of logistics IT by defining information systems standards and developing the strategic road-map for future integration efforts.

- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions present a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Logistics Management Series 0346.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience; is described as: directing, developing, or performing logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating, or evaluating the logistical actions required to support a specified mission, weapons system, or other designated program to ensure operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements; assisted with formulating organizational strategies, tactics, and budget/action plan to acquire and allocate resources. 1. Strategic Logistics & Sustainment Expertise: Mastery of the DoD and U.S. Space Force supply chain enterprise, with demonstrated ability to manage and resolve highly complex logistical challenges, analyze operational data, and drive sustainment solutions. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
