Experience: 8+ years of relevant RF/SATCOM systems engineering experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced RF Systems / Hardware Engineer to support the operations, maintenance, sustainment, enhancement, and integration of a complex, mission-critical communications system.

This position is ideal for an engineer with significant hands-on experience supporting RF ground systems, satellite communications (SATCOM) systems, RF hardware, antenna systems, system troubleshooting, and operational system sustainment.

The selected candidate will diagnose and resolve system issues, collect and analyze diagnostic data, restore system operations, develop technical workarounds, support engineering changes and new capabilities, and recommend improvements to system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

This is a hands-on engineering position requiring strong RF troubleshooting skills and the ability to support operational systems where uptime and rapid restoration are critical.

Responsibilities

Support operations, maintenance, sustainment, and enhancement of RF ground systems and SATCOM hardware.

Provide RF systems engineering, hardware troubleshooting, requirements analysis, baseline management, integration, and operational support.

Troubleshoot, document, and resolve system outages and other operational issues.

Perform fault isolation across antennas, RF equipment, modems, cabling, signal-processing paths, and supporting infrastructure.

Collect and analyze diagnostic data to identify root causes and restore system operations.

Develop workarounds and corrective actions to recover or improve system performance.

Use RF test and diagnostic equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, FieldFox, and similar tools.

Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on moveable antenna systems, antenna control units, servos, and related mechanical and electrical subsystems.

Support upconverters, downconverters, modems, encoders, modulators, antenna control units, and other SATCOM/RF components.

Monitor equipment performance and make modifications necessary to ensure systems operate according to specifications.

Support RF cabling, connectors, cable construction, termination, testing, and validation.

Analyze signal loss, frequency-dependent cable loss, and appropriate cable selection based on frequency, power, environment, and mission requirements.

Generate, analyze, track, and manage system and hardware requirements.

Develop and maintain schematics, block diagrams, system analyses, bills of material, design review packages, white papers, and technical recommendations.

Support engineering changes, including performance, design, and cost trade studies.

Support requirements verification, system testing, validation, and configuration baseline management.

Provide recommendations for new operational concepts, system architectures, capability enhancements, and process improvements.

Support development of concepts of operations (CONOPS) and engineering and operational procedures.

Participate in technical design reviews and engineering change activities.

Provide occasional after-hours support when required.

Support occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel, including emergency repair trips with limited advance notice.

Work at heights when required and complete applicable antenna, tower, and site safety training.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of relevant RF/SATCOM systems engineering, hardware engineering, or operational communications systems experience.

Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.

U.S. Citizenship.

Hands-on experience supporting RF ground systems or satellite communications systems.

Experience maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and enhancing mission-critical RF/SATCOM hardware.

Strong proficiency with RF test and diagnostic equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, FieldFox, and similar equipment.

Experience troubleshooting loss-of-signal and other performance issues across antennas, RF equipment, modems, cabling, and signal-processing paths.

Experience maintaining and troubleshooting moveable antenna systems.

Familiarity with antenna control units, servos, and related mechanical/electrical subsystems.

Familiarity with upconverters, downconverters, modems, encoders, modulators, and related SATCOM/RF components.

Hands-on experience with ViaSat equipment and AMERGINT modems.

Experience collecting diagnostic data, performing root-cause analysis, documenting discrepancies, and restoring operational systems.

Experience generating, analyzing, tracking, and managing technical requirements.

Experience developing RF systems engineering documentation, including schematics, block diagrams, bills of material, technical analyses, design review packages, and technical recommendations.

Ability to work effectively as part of a technical engineering team.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to support occasional after-hours call-in requirements.

Ability to support occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel.

Ability to work at heights and complete applicable antenna/tower safety training.
