The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. The Hardware Engineering team strives to be the premier organization for mechanical design and development through our world class people and technology - creating trusted, innovative solutions to make the world a safer place. Hardware Engineering's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.

Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical and electrical design, development, and integration of a diverse set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.

The UES department is looking for full-time Senior Design Engineer, with a Focus of Advanced 3D Modeling, located in Portsmouth, RI.

What You Will Do
  • Work with engineers across the business to propose, design, develop, integrate, and document detailed designs of large assemblies and sub-assemblies within the mechanical design department using CREO
  • Communicate with engineering team members and suppliers to design, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance with configuration and drafting requirements
  • Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs
  • Generate and release engineering drawings and drawing change incorporation
  • Utilize CREO for modeling and documentation creation.
  • Large Assembly Management and BOM Management


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, with advanced modeling and drawing experience.
  • Experience with any Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analyses, drawing practices and interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in CREO Parametric, CREO View and Model Based Definition (MBD)
  • Experience in PDM/Windchill
  • Experience in multiple CAD Design Tools: SolidWorks/CREO/AutoCAD/CATIA/NX
  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices
  • Experience with military, or aerospace specifications and/or industry design standards
  • Strong technical background with high technical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Very strong communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
