Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support a Navy training program in Norfolk, VA. This individual will join a software engineering team responsible for developing and enhancing Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF), the Navy's primary simulation platform used to support live, virtual, and constructive training exercises across the Fleet.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
-Developing, enhancing, integrating, and maintaining Java-based software applications supporting the JSAF simulation environment.
-Collaborating with software engineers, systems engineers, and end users to gather requirements and implement technical solutions.
-Supporting software development activities within a Red Hat Linux environment using modern development tools and frameworks.
-Writing, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting object-oriented, multi-threaded applications.
-Utilizing version control tools such as Git to manage source code and support team-based development efforts.
-Assisting with software integration, system sustainment, and continuous improvement initiatives across the NCTE architecture.
-Creating and maintaining technical documentation, reports, user guides, and engineering deliverables.
-Supporting software testing, defect resolution, and deployment activities in support of Navy training operations.
-Contributing to Agile development efforts and participating in technical meetings, briefings, and project planning activities.
-Performing additional duties as assigned in support of mission requirements and program objectives.
Compensation: $38-40/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
