The United States Space Force (USSF) Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO is searching for a ODSC Operations Research Analyst (NH-1515-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).
Description :

If so, then the United States Space Force's (USSF) Combat Forces Command (CFC) is looking for you to serve as an Offensive and Defensive Space Control (ODSC) Operations Research Analyst in the Astrodynamics Division. Ideal Candidate :
This position requires a highly cleared, quantitatively skilled professional capable of leading cost estimation and modeling efforts under strict national security guidelines. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a Top Secret/SCI clearance with Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility, passing a Counterintelligence Polygraph, and adhering to the Air Force drug testing policy. Academically, the position demands a college degree with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative sciences, alongside compliance with DAWIA requirements. Professionally, the candidate must possess capabilities in strategic planning, cost analysis, and operations research, specifically for defense weapon systems. They must be skilled in building predictive models, running simulations, and utilizing advanced data collection techniques to guide acquisitions under constrained budgets. Finally, the role requires strong strategic leadership and coalition-building skills, with the flexibility to travel for temporary duty assignments.
Key Skills and Abilities :
1. Expert skill in presenting/defending findings and recommendations with respect to military utility analysis, multi-objective decision analysis, optimization, and other analysis concepts.
2. Expert knowledge and skill in a broad range of operations research techniques; classical and modern higher mathematics; possession of analytical abilities. Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of operational mission system.
3. Ability to execute complex projects and/or studies within established time constraints. Ability to advise senior leaders, Program Element Monitors and field-level representatives.
4. Ability to apply quantitative techniques and develop, adapt, and modify modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques to solve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions for senior management.
5. Ability to plan, coordinate, organize, and direct technical, analytical, engineering and scientific personnel and combine in-house and external resources for complex analytical and technical projects. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships. Maintain good team building skills and working relations with superiors, and peers.
6. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Employee needs to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Must have a bachelor's or master's degree in a related technical discipline such as operations research, mathematics, computer science, or one of the physical sciences, or engineering. Advanced degrees(s) are preferred.
- Must exhibit a high degree of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impacts of changing technology on scientific studies.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 15 days a year.
