Overview

We are looking to hire a Consulting Project Manager to join Microsoft Federal.

The Microsoft Federal organization was established to address the unique mission, legal/regulatory requirements, and procurement rules and processes of the United States Government (USG). Microsoft Federal is committed to ensuring its resources-including appropriately qualified, experienced, and certified personnel (with necessary security clearances or eligibility)-are available as needed to meet evolving USG needs.

As a Consulting Project Manager, you will work in a PMO to maintain financial forecasts, perform contract administration, and develop processes for improving business efficiency.

Account Delivery Management
  • Support administration of large federal contracts, including processing contract modifications, amendments, and funding actions.
  • Maintain financial forecasts, staffing projections, and budget tracking to support program execution.
  • Review workforce capacity and resource demand, recommending labor allocations aligned with contractual requirements and available funding.
  • Develop cost estimates and supporting basis-of-estimate documentation for new requirements, contract changes, and growth opportunities.
  • Analyze cost drivers, labor trends, unit costs, and rate structures to support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Track commitments, obligations, expenditures, burn rates, and estimate-at-completion metrics against approved budgets.
  • Identify financial risks, funding shortfalls, and excess funding early and develop data-driven recommendations for corrective action.
  • Produce executive-ready reports, dashboards, and briefings that simplify complex operational and financial data.
  • Coordinate with program leadership and executive stakeholders to obtain approvals, communicate status, and support decision-making.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve operational and business management processes.
  • Leverage automation, AI tools, and reporting solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Maintain compliance with security, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • Document work products, maintain operational records, and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives.


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility or access.
  • 1-3 years of experience in project management, financial analysis, PMO operations, government contracting, or business operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Management, or a related field.
  • Understanding of government contract structures and the financial processes that support contract execution.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information and present clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create, document, and improve business processes.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, AI-assisted workflows, or similar generative AI tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems, technologies, and operational processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.


Consulting Project Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $77,900 - $156,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $169,200 per year.
