As a Systems Integration Engineer VI, this position is responsible for supporting the stability, scalability, reliability, security, and sustainability of AWS-based systems and services. The engineer performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk and supportability analysis, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and continuous improvement activities across cloud infrastructure and supporting systems.  

The successful candidate will apply extensive systems engineering and cloud experience to resolve complex technical challenges, improve existing frameworks and processes, and develop innovative solutions that enhance Cloud One mission capabilities. 

RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Drive the stability, reliability, scalability, and sustainability of AWS cloud-based networks, infrastructure, applications, and supporting software systems.  










  • Perform AWS cloud engineering, operations, sustainment, and maintenance activities to maintain optimal performance, availability, security, and customer experience.  










  • Design, implement, integrate, configure, and sustain scalable and resilient AWS cloud solutions.  










  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and effectiveness and supportability analyses for cloud-based systems.  










  • Analyze system architecture, functionality, performance, configurations, dependencies, and technical risks to identify and resolve complex engineering issues.  










  • Develop and implement innovative approaches for scaling cloud infrastructure and improving operational reliability.  










  • Identify opportunities to improve existing cloud architectures, engineering frameworks, automation tools, operational processes, and technical procedures.  










  • Provide solutions to unusually complex cloud systems and infrastructure problems requiring advanced technical analysis and innovative engineering approaches.  










  • Support the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure AWS architectures incorporating zero-trust principles, defense-in-depth strategies, and Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.  










  • Implement and maintain AWS cloud networking, virtual private clouds, routing, VPN connectivity, security controls, and associated infrastructure.  








  • Support Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), database, compute, storage, and shared-service capabilities.  










  • Implement and maintain identity and access management, security monitoring, logging, auditing, and cloud access controls.  










  • Support implementation and validation of DISA STIGs and applicable Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.  










  • Perform cloud infrastructure and application performance analysis, troubleshooting, tuning, and optimization.  










  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and automation capabilities using technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, AWS-native tools, and related frameworks.  










  • Support CI/CD and DevSecOps workflows utilizing technologies such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, and related engineering tools.  










  • Support containerization and orchestration of applications to improve deployment efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.  










  • Support the design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of Cloud One Common Shared Services.  










  • Assess legacy systems and support development of modernization and cloud migration strategies, including containerization, microservices, and cloud-native solutions.  










  • Develop and support cloud migration methodologies designed to minimize mission and operational disruption.  










  • Support customer onboarding and implementation of consistent pathways for cloud adoption within the Cloud One environment.  










  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, tools, and automation capabilities and assess their potential impact on technical and program objectives.  










  • Perform technical risk, cost, supportability, and effectiveness assessments associated with cloud engineering solutions.  










  • Configure and troubleshoot cloud, virtual, and physical infrastructure, operating systems, networking, applications, and supporting services.  










  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, system configurations, procedures, technical analyses, architecture artifacts, and operational documentation.  










  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering team members.  










  • Collaborate with government customers, cloud architects, cybersecurity engineers, network engineers, software developers, DevSecOps personnel, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and achieve program objectives.  










  • Ensure 100% of planned hours are worked and recorded  










  • Identify and forward to your leadership any opportunities that could lead to growth within your work area  










  • Participate in growth efforts as requested  








  • Ensure all contractual deliverables are met/exceeded to the customer's satisfaction  










  • Complete personal PDP and attend Staff Meeting and Storytime (with camera on)  










  • Within your program, build productive and positive professional relationships with clients  










  • Execute all contract requirements as assigned in accordance with the contract-specific LCAT and requirements  










  • Perform other related duties as assigned





KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance 
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 12+ years of experience, or a Master's with 10+ years of experience




  • Demonstrated experience supporting AWS cloud environments.  










  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, compute, storage, identity and access management, security, monitoring, and automation.  










  • Experience performing systems engineering activities including technical planning, integration, verification and validation, risk analysis, and system effectiveness assessments.  










  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex system functionality, performance, configuration, and integration issues.  










  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improvements to engineering frameworks, processes, tools, and technologies.










  • DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT Level II certification  










  • At least one cloud certification





PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS




  • Experience supporting AWS GovCloud or Department of Defense cloud environments.  










  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Artifactory, Jira, and Confluence.  










  • Experience with containerization, microservices, and cloud-native application architectures.  








  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework, NIST security controls, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.  










  • Experience supporting multi-cloud environments including Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.  










  • Experience supporting Cloud One, Air Force, Department of Defense, or other federal cloud environments.  










  • Experience developing or supporting enterprise shared cloud services.  










  • Experience with zero-trust architectures and defense-in-depth security strategies.
