Job Description
ARS is seeking a Senior Systems Security Engineer to support the CROWS program at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The position will provide systems security engineering, cybersecurity, and cyber resiliency expertise in support of USAF weapon systems throughout the acquisition life cycle.
The Senior Systems Security Engineer will provide advanced technical support to CROWS weapon system acquisition programs at Wright-Patterson AFB. The position will assess and recommend security engineering solutions designed to protect weapon systems and critical networks against malicious and non-malicious exploitation throughout the acquisition life cycle.
The engineer will support cybersecurity posture assessments, vulnerability analysis, cyber resiliency and survivability efforts, and the development of mitigation strategies for existing and future weapon systems. The position will also support Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETRs), including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), and other technical and acquisition documentation.
The successful candidate will possess demonstrated USAF weapon systems acquisition experience, experience briefing senior leaders, and advanced knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, tools, and Systems Modeling Language (SysML).

Responsibilities include:
- Appraise and recommend the technical implementation of security designs, including software, hardware, and firmware features affecting confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability, and non-repudiation
- Evaluate and recommend designs and solutions to protect weapon systems and critical networks against malicious and non-malicious exploitation throughout the full acquisition life cycle
- Support assessments of system cybersecurity posture and assist with prioritizing current and future cyber vulnerability remediation efforts
- Review existing and future cyber vulnerability assessments to identify affected legacy systems and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies
- Support cyber analyses to assess system criticality, risk of occurrence, and feasibility of mitigation strategies
- Assist in developing repeatable tools, processes, and expectations to support Systems Security Engineering oversight and centers of excellence
- Assist in developing reports outlining mitigation objectives and system cyber resiliency strategies
- Review technical evaluations and plans, engineering studies, reports and analyses, acquisition plans, and other program and technical documentation related to cybersecurity, resiliency, and weapon system survivability
- Support the Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process, including PDR, CDR, and associated documentation development and review
- Provide rapid-response engineering support to identify critical supportability issues, assess program and mission impacts, and develop corrective actions
- Interface with program office personnel, engineers, cybersecurity professionals, acquisition personnel, and senior government leadership
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior and journeyman-level personnel as required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Master's degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant technical/professional experience, including at least 5 years of DoD experience
- Must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level II certification requirements
- Demonstrated USAF weapon systems acquisition experience
- Demonstrated experience briefing senior leaders
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
- Advanced knowledge of systems security engineering, cybersecurity, cyber resiliency, vulnerability assessment, and risk mitigation
- Ability to independently perform complex technical assignments and provide authoritative technical recommendations
- Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance with Tier 5 eligibility/investigation requirements
