Software Engineer L0

Jovian Concepts, LLC is looking to hire a Software Engineer Level 0 for a great opportunity in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. 

A current and active TS/SCI Clearance with a MD Polygraph is required to be considered. 

The developers will focus on developing graphical user interfaces and dashboards, deploying and managing applications in an AWS cloud environment, integrating new functionality with established tools through tech transfer initiatives, automating key workflows, and integrating artificial intelligence (Al) and machine learning (ML) models into our workflows. The ideal candidate will be a versatile problem-solver with a strong foundation in software development principles and a passion for building innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain user-friendly GUIs and interactive dashboards. Design, deploy, and manage applications and infrastructure in AWS. Integrate new features and functionalities into existing tools.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated workflows to streamline processes.

  • Integrate Al/ML models into existing systems to enhance functionality and improve decision-making. Monitor and optimize automated workflows and Al/ML model performance.
  • Languages: Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

  • GUI/Dashboard: Basic understanding of UI/UX principles, experience with at least one JavaScript framework (React, Angular, or Vue.js-willingness to learn is key). Experience with Tkinter or similar Python GUI libraries is a plus.

  • AWS: Foundational understanding of AWS core services (EC2, S3, Lambda).

  • Automation/Al: Basic understanding of scripting for automation (Python preferred). Awareness of Al/ML concepts. Tools: Git (version control).

  • Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to learn quickly, and excellent communication skills. Willingness to learn automation and Al/ML principles.



The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
  • Works individually or as part of a team.
  • Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
  • Resolves software problem reports.
  • Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
  • Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade­ offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level individual software components.


The Level 0 Software Engineer (SWE) shall possess the following capabilities:

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.



Requirements

  • A current and active TS/SCI Clearance with a MD Polygraph is required to be considered.

  • No demonstrated experience is required.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Four (4) years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
