Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support and help lead enterprise cybersecurity operations and engineering initiatives within a highly secure federal environment.
This individual will leverage experience across multiple defensive cyber operations disciplines to support both strategic and day-to-day mission objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to enhance cybersecurity capabilities, improve operational processes, guide technical teams, and support the design and implementation of security solutions.
The role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical expertise, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with executive stakeholders, technical teams, and mission partners.
Responsibilities:
Support cybersecurity operations and engineering initiatives while helping drive mission objectives and organizational priorities.
Develop and improve operational processes, workflows, and team effectiveness.
Provide leadership and mentorship to technical personnel and subordinate team leads.
Assist with workforce planning, staffing assessments, and personnel development initiatives.
Support the design, development, implementation, operation, and sustainment of cybersecurity services and capabilities.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve cybersecurity effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and technical studies for cybersecurity initiatives.
Develop technical white papers, recommendations, and strategic planning documentation.
Collaborate with leadership to identify capability gaps and recommend remediation strategies.
Monitor cybersecurity trends and industry best practices to support future planning efforts.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Additional cybersecurity experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirements.
Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a Polygraph.
Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience as a team lead, supervisor, manager, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of enterprise cybersecurity systems, network architectures, and security technologies.
Experience briefing executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
Technical Requirements:
Strong understanding of cybersecurity strategies, governance, and risk management practices.
Knowledge of network security, security operations, SIEM platforms, intrusion detection technologies, and enterprise security architectures.
DoD 8140/8570 certifications including:
Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III
CSSP Manager
Understanding of cybersecurity compliance frameworks, policies, programs, and metrics.
Familiarity with security operations maturity models such as SOC-CMM, C2M2, or similar frameworks.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and defensive cyber operations.
Understanding of acquisition, budgeting, and cybersecurity program management processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting federal government, Intelligence Community, or DoD cybersecurity programs.
Experience securing cloud and hybrid cloud environments.
Knowledge of cloud security principles across multiple cloud providers.
Experience with Cyber Threat Intelligence programs and intelligence-driven security operations.
Familiarity with Purple Team methodologies and security validation activities.
Strong understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and applying threat intelligence to defensive capabilities.
