Network Lead

POSITION: Network Lead

LOCATION: Huntsville, AL

SCOPE: Serves as a Network Lead on a major IT services contract for the U.S. Army. Lead engineering and operations for voice, video and data networks across classified and unclassified environments and approximately 20 facilities, sustaining mission availability while modernizing security, observability and automation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead LAN/WAN, routing/switching, wireless, firewall, IDS/IPS, NAC, DNS/DHCP/IPAM and load balancing.
• Engineer Cisco and other Government-approved network platforms.
• Support Cisco ISE, Infoblox, F5 BIG-IP/BIG-IQ and enterprise monitoring.
• Own capacity, availability, performance, resiliency, QoS and lifecycle planning.
• Integrate RMF, PPSM, boundary protection, ports/protocols, STIGs and vulnerability management.
• Maintain authoritative schematics, SOPs, baselines, optimization analyses and CDRL inputs.
• Perform technical trade studies and modernization planning.
• Use Python, PowerShell or Ansible automation where approved.
• Lead response to mission-impacting network events.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure all network devices are configured and maintained in strict compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Army cybersecurity directives.
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation activities in response to ACAS and CTO initiatives.
• Respond to and investigate cybersecurity incidents in coordination with the security operations team.

Network Automation

• Develop and maintain scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible to automate routine network administration tasks, device configuration, and compliance checks. Experience with Linux Bash scripting is also preferred.
• Assist in the development of a network automation framework to improve operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's (master's preferred) in Computer Science or Systems Engineering.
• 8+ years enterprise network engineering with DoD/federal technical leadership.
• Advanced routing/switching, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, firewall, IDS/IPS, NAC and DNS/DHCP.
• Secure/classified network experience with DISA STIG and vulnerability remediation.
• Strong documentation, diagramming, CM and change-control discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required clearance/access.

PREFERRED/HIGHLY DESIRED:

• CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.
• Cisco ISE, Infoblox, F5 BIG-IP/BIG-IQ, Palo Alto/Cisco security and enterprise monitoring.
• Network automation.
• PPSM/RMF/eMASS and Redstone/Army network experience.
